Hi guys,

Just called the guys at Century Lodge, and they are completely booked for the month of July (unless I bring a big group and stay in their biggest cabin). The earliest I can get in would be from Aug 9-16 or Aug 16-23. Does anyone have any experience with Osbourne at that time of the year?

My main concern is that Osbourne and Nivens are known as shallow / dark waters, and I would think that this would lead to a better "early season" bite (early July). Wondering if I could still fish the topwaters/ jackpots on Osbourne in August or if this is too late (too warm) for a shallow topwater bite.

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

The water isn't that dark. I could see my bucktail on the entire retrieve when I was up there. They fish shallow until it turns over.

Another option I would look into is staying at a lodge that is located somewhere between Osbourne and Vermillion bays. This would give you the option of making runs to both locations in response to the fish.
Last year when I was up there the water was significantly darker in Osbourne than other portions of the lake which resulted in it being a few degrees warmer on average.

Jackpot, the last time i went to Osborne bay, it was the middle of August. the two of us caught 13 muskies. 31" to 50". and..they LOVE jackpots on that part of the lake.
In the middle of Auguest, we caught fish on prop topwaters, jackpots, spinnerbaits, bucktails and bright colored 10" Jakes. it's not just a early season bite...trust me. August seemed to produced just has good as july for us.
