Seems like today is the day for new baits! Well this isn't new but I think the paint is a little better than the last one I slapped together. Two trout swimbaits just finished up. Feel free to give advice or criticisms. If the lake is open tomorrow and there aren't waves crashing over the pier I may have some video as well.

Holy cow, that thing has five joints in it! From the videos that I have seen, it seems that more joints produce more realistic movement. Very nice workmanship, the lines are extremely clean on that bait and the paint job is top notch.

Nate I take back what I said in my email. These pictures are better quality than the ones I was looking at and show more detail. The pink does look metallic and highlights well. As for the spots well they look good the more the better I say!
only thing I would do to this bait visually is move the rear hook back to the next section but that's a personal preference.

Thanks for the compliments guys. DS just got your email and can see what you mean from the other pics I directed you check out, but I still think I could do more metallic as you suggested. I'll also see what I can do regarding hook placement. In the meantime, I found some open water and shot a quick video.........any thoughts on the action? Thanks again!

Back to the real subject-
Nate that thing looks KILLER !! Of course, that is to say, the pic and the video look Killer. I would NEED to see the actual lure up close and maybe use it (for a season- or two), before I would really pass judgement though.
Hey- shouldn't you be studying ?

These swim baits you guys are making are seriously revolutionary. I've been a fisherman for decades and I have NEVER seen anything like what has been being cranked out in the last year or so.
Nate, that thing looks so real in the water, I'd expect my hands to be slimy after handling it.

That's my feeling too, hard swimbaits when built correctly look more realistic than any other group of lures, bar none!! As for revolutionary? Not really, Cali bass fisherman have been fishing these baits for 20 years or longer and every one of the designs you are seeing within this forum are based on these ideas. Take a look here and you will see what I mean. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/brandswimbaits.html

Jed, I've seen a lot of swim baits (and fished with a lot of them) but I haven't seen them all. I'm aware that swim baits have existed for a long time, but I've not seen anything that touches Jrhopkins stuff or the baits that Nate is making. I think the new joints combined with the new materials being used in the joints and the weighting is producing an action unlike anything I've ever seen.

Nate, those baits rock. Natural look with such a sweet swim action.
I was just sorting out some lures to do some winter organizing and had to play with your baits again. I went down to the little river by my house and drew a crowd as I tossed your baits on the last day of fishing here in Wisconsin. No pike in the river to be seen but I was just getting my casting fix anyway. I finished up icefishing the day before. All done for now. Time to get some stuff done before the opener in May.

It's been a while since I wrote that article. It was nice to see it again. Nate... great looking bait. I am part of a group of trophy bass hunters that uses nothing but swimbaits. All of us liked the looks and construction (from what we could see in the photos). All of the joints are really tight (can't see through the bait) and the overall look is very realistic. The name of the game for us California swimbait guys right now is realism. There are so many guys throwing swimbaits that the fish have all seen them over and over. The fish have progressively become more and more conditioned to the big baits but they are still very catchable. Nate, if you get a chance... shoot me a PM with what you are charging for the baits along with the specs.
