| Last November I reported that just under $13,000 of equipment was stolen from my boat in the Green Bay area. The police showed very little interest in my problem and in fact did not want to make out a report which they finally did for insurance purposes. Needless to say nothing became of this until a member of our club, Shane West, noticed that two of my hand made lures had just sold on ebay for $50 each by Action Jack. They had even used my name in the description of them. I contacted the police who were still did not seem very interested in trying to solve this case until I sent them the pictures from ebay that showed my signature on the lures. Things went fast after that and last Tuesday the first arrest was made and a very large amount of stolen property was recovered. One more arrest is yet to be made and more stolen property has been located. I have no idea as of yet how much of my equipment has been recovered but the important thing is that these thieves have been caught and I owe it all to the alertness of Shane. |

I had a very similar experience last year. The only exception was that the local police took a great interest in the case and found the thieving bastages very quickly.
Glad they caught them, hope you get most of your stuff back. I know its not likely, but it was be nice if the sons a b's rotted in a jail cell for a long time. |

Location: Washington, PA | That's awesome to hear. Our cars were broken into twice last year in our driveway. Cops said we can fingerprint, but we're not going to find anything unless someone catches them in the act. I really hate thieves. |

| Congrats on getting your gear back, but I have a hypothetical question.
Say you get your gear stolen as you did and obviously filed a police report and filed a claim with insurance. Say you get your check, replace your gear as much as you can and then a year or more later your gear is recovered? Does the insurance guy coming looking for his money which has now been turned into lures and rods? |

Shane, didn't you have some lost stuff last year or you found some gear form a guy here? You sound like a good guy to have as a friend! Keep it up and good things will always come your way.

| Good news, I had a lot of my own baits stolen in November from the Excel Inn in Green Bay. If anything comes up with a rjlures decal on the tail end of the lure please let me know.

You should probably touch base with the police. My understanding is there was a lot of stolen fishing equipment recovered and these guys had started hitting places in November - they may have recovered some of your stuff.

Location: MadCity Wisconsin | RJL........If you had some lures stolen in Green Bay you should contact Detective Tim David of Ashwaubenon Police. Det. David is the guy who made the arrests and recovered a gargage full of stolen stuff. Sounds like he might be a very busy guy on Monday but leave a message if he isnt in. Maybe you could look at the photos of the stolen gear that was recovered and make sure you describe in detail what you had stolen.
Green Bay Police advised me last week that they have over 40 documented thefts from boats just in the city of Green Bay alone!
Dogonpoint........The way it works is that after you get a check from the insurance company the stuff recovered belongs to the insurance co. But....you can work out a deal with them and get some of your stuff back sometimes at a very reasonable sum.

Shane- What a great save! Now that row troller of yours must be fully loaded with muskie mojo! I hope you stick that pig of a lifetime.
For those that don't know Shane. Yeah, he's one of the nicest guy's you ever meet! But, he also makes a great glider/jerk bait (The Timber Wolf).
BTW- I have digital photo's of all of my fishing gear, including Shane's Timber Wolf's. Take photo's of everything, including the serial number/data plates on all the non-lure equipment, i.e., boat, motor, trolling motor's, electronic's etc.

I cant understand for the life of me the reluctance of the GB police not wanting to make a report for you at thte time of the theft. Actually I do have an idea or two which really get my blood boiling but I wont get into it. Anyway, Glad to hear the good news. Nice catch on e-bay.

The insurnace compnay paid you for the stuff that was lost, anything recovered is now owned by the insurance company. "You" don't get your stuff back the insurance company gets "their" stuff back.
