How hard is it to take a bench seat out of a Lund boat? Does this involve aluminum welding to repair rivet holes? I am thinking of removing one or two of the benches to open up the middle and maybe put in a rod locker too. I made a nice floor for my boat with casting deck, so I don't have problems doing woodwork, bracing, carpet. What ideas do you guys have. I see there's a place in near Stillwater, Mn that does this work too.

Thanks,

Just remain cognizant of the probability that much of the boat's flotation is in the seat benches/supports. You'll have to find a spot to replace an equal amount of flotation in the new configuration. Some of the structural integrity of the hull is also maintained by the existence of the seats. I'd talk to someone who knows a whole lot more about it than I do before proceeding.

i have a 14' alumacraft that i took all three benchs out and built a casting deck up front and a deck in the rear have not had any problems other than a little shaking it all depends on the thickness of your alum. I can go in about 8 inches of water with about 650 pounds in the boat so it floats pretty well.
