| I am looking for opinions on jerk and/or glide baits. I have had some success on a reef hawg, but they don't always seem to go side to side like I want them to. I have had no success with a suick for some reason.
I have heard some good things about the Manta, Phantom soft tail, or Dunwright Dancer.
There must be some opinions out there. Let me have them! |

| I finally bought a Hellhound last year and the rest of my gliders will now hang there looking pretty. It is everything I have been looking for in a glider, right hang time, just the right amount of jukes and jives and best of all not to heavy. IMO of course. |

Location: Eau Claire, Wisconsin | i would have to say that i use the cobbs crazy shads the most and then it would have to be a manta. the action of the wide glide looks good only used mine couple times. i bought some hell hounds i didnt like them they sink to fast, they dont have as much belly roll, and there not as erratic as the wyde glide or the cobbs. i fish alot of shallow rivers so i like a slow sinking glide baits with lots of erratic movment and lots of belly roll seems to help catch more fish for me. also allows me to fish slower and keep it in the holes longer.

Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Of course I'm somewhat bias'd as to #1 . But for me I like the Alien, and # 2 is a Timber wolf by Shane West, or a Perka by Beaver. Actually a pretty difficult choice for #2. Both make a great lure. The Perka has a bigger profile.
Have fun!

Location: Windy City | I like Hellhounds, Mantas, and numerous other baits but if I was forced to choose one glider hands down it would be the SQUIRKO by Llungen lures . It puts fish in the boat when other lures wont even move them. Just my two cents.

| I'm fond of Wabulls, both sizes, Hellhounds, Mantas, Cobbs, jerko's+Squirko's, Perkas, Dancers... I like a lot of baits. There isn't any ONE that I use. THere are different situations that I use them all, really. That said, I do tend to use Wabulls more than the others, in more situations. |

| i like the Wabull when i want something erratic that will glide left/right but also dance up/down. i fish these with a fast action with frequent long pauses.
i'll reach for the Hellhound when i want something that'll hang and slide a bit more hypnotically.

| gliders suck.
but if you have to throw one try hellhounds, undertakers, baby jerko/squirkos, turmoils, baby squirrelly phantoms are killer too |

| Gotta say 10" wieghted Suick. It has the side to side action like a manta or phantom, but with added up/down chop action as well. Makes more commotion for the lateral lines than those stealthy gliders. I've caught several on Mantas as well though, always had best luck on the smaller normal weight mantas, never caught a thing on Hang 10's, though I still throw them from time to time. And don't forget bulldawgs! |

| The only two that I've used are the eddie and reef hawg. I like the reef hawg better because it seemed to have a more consistant action. That said, my buddie's eddie had a little bit different action then mine when I used it. This year I'm going to add a wabull and manta to my jerk/glides. Heard good things about both.

My three most used are:
Wabull
Reef Hawg
Squirrelly Phantom
It sounds like I need to get a few Hellhounds and a few Perka's.

Location: Puyallup, WA | Jerkbait: Ducktail's Weedwarrior. Similar to a suck but heavier so it casts easier and hangs a bit longer. Also, the weedless version is fantastic when bring it through weeds.
Gliders: Bikini Baits Turmoil is my go to bait. I also like Phantoms. |

| My favorite is now and always has been the Tuff Shad Glide Baits #1 for me year after year and I do have them all.. I think once you have alot of confidence in a lure you just always grab it first. I m certain it is the easiest to use and there is no way of fishing them wrong. #2 is a toss up between a Hell Hound and a Ace Glide Bait... |

Location: SE, WI. | Glide baits are fun to throw and do locate fish....But I agree with bn...glides baits just do not produce many catches. After I have about 9 fish miss the bait out of about 11 strikes in May, I put them away out of shear Frustration!!!
I like , Power Probes...Undertakers...Reef hogs...Hughs River.
Throw the glide baits in the woods and let them rot like the rest of the fallen wood!!! |

| The ultimate jerkbait is a suik. But since you havn't had much luck with a suick I would recommend a Viper. You can work them walk the dog fast or slow, make them glide a couple feet to each side, or even make them dive under the surface and walk the dog down there. |

as far as hook up ratios if the bait they want is a glider and your hook up ratio is 25% it's better than the zero bites you could get throwing the wrong tool. Glide baits are great cold front lures and also great real shallow on them super hot blue bird days. |

Location: big cove tannery pa | I have a 7inch shad glider that supermuskie made me 2 years ago,i have caught so many on it that the clearcoat and paint have come off half of it,all you see is the white undercoating. I love that glider and is my goto glider. I purchased a bluegill hellhound this year and they have a reat body roll. Also magicmakers and phantoms are sweet.
As for a jerkbait my number one go too is a suick, produces so mant strikes.
Also as for gliders, i broke my wrist last year and ever since then i cant throw them very long,do they make a wrist brace for gliders that i could try. |

| Try a Freestyler, lots of belly roll, big fish like it!
Manta: Cast like crap, far to stable (catches more anglers than fish), hard to hook the fish on. |

| I really think a better question is whether or not you should waste time with glide baits.
Yes, they catch some fish, but they also tend to be follow baits.
Poll guides and pros as to what percentage of time they tie on a true glider, and I think you
will understand much more about the place gliders should have in your tacklebox.
BTW, I would not consider suicks, reef hawgs or bobbies to be gliders, though they get mentioned
here as such. |

..,do they make a wrist brace for gliders that i could try.
I wear a wrist guard (on my rod hand) while casting any musky lures. I originally bought it when I started snowboarding. Try it out for a while, the worst that can happen is you'll get a goofy looking tan. |

| Warlocks are awesome...Solid plastic and bulletproof. i also like the tunable tail, man this glider will do so many different things. Tail slightly up it walks near the surface splashing on each pull, straight tail awesome glide( tight under short jerks and wide on longer pulls) and tail slightly down it runs deeper on glide or runs like a crankbait on straight crank. Its no HYPNOGLIDE, responsible lots of fish in my boat.INRDNK |
