Location: Land of the Musky | Any of you ever used lures like the below trolling for musky? I was just looking at these today and thought they might work great. From reading these pop up out to he water and then dive back down leaving a trail of bubble and then pop back up. Also are about 8-12 inches. Seen plenty of baitfish act this way when a big pike or muskie are trolling around and feeding. Never seen or heard of these being used for muskie though. If nothing else I bet muskies have never seen them before! LOL

Location: Hugo, MN | I was just thinking about these the other day, while watching Hunt for Big Fish. I can't imagine why they wouldn't work, especially speed trolling. I would think they'd work best on a clear body of water where sight is important, since they don't make much of a commotion. Sure worth a try. Not too expensive either.

No, the prices are not bad. You can get a big 10-12 inch monster with a 7/0 single hook prerigged with 150lb mono for $10-$15 and I bet the skirts lasta long time if they are made for saltwater fishing. Some are real cool looking too! I do see some differences in them. IMO you woudl want to get one with a slanted head as it shodul swim a little more than a bullet head. Can't find any videos of them running on YouTube either. Want to see what they run like. eBay has a few on right now. Maybe I can get one cheap and try it out after ice out. |

| I've played with the them and I don't think you will be happy with them. They require A LOT of speed, in thenieghborhood of 10mph. Plus the action is pretty bland IMHO. |

the site says they're designed to run at lower speeds with a lot of pop and dance.
ideal speeds from 4.5 - 6.5 knots (5.25 - 7.5 mph), but the Schooners will run as low as 1.5 knots (less than 2mph), and the Destroyers as low as 4 knots (4.6mph).

Location: Land of the Musky | That looks like it would catch a few muskys! Thanks for posting that one. It had a video and I was looking for a video with one of those in it. Like the way they pop and then drag bubbles for a ways under water. They were running it fast. 4-10 knots. What is the fastest any of you have trolled for muskie and caught one? |
