I'm looking at a getting a new dept finder for my boat this year and was just wondering how difficult it is to install one? I'm pretty sure it will have a gps (not sure if internal or ext.). I'm just wondering if this is something I can do pretty easy myself or if I should have someone do it? Thanks.

Installing electronics are surprisingly easy. I know this subject has been touched on a lot on this website. If you do a search, I'm sure you will find something. I will try and find some old threads for you.

The main thing you have to do is run your wires to your starting battery. That will of course give you the power for the unit. Then also mounting your transducer is the other big part. I have some good pics somewhere on transducer location. I'll see if I can find them.

It is amazingly easy. Just take your time and do it right the first time and you shouldn't have any issues. I had the dealer install my GPS for me and I ended up rewiring it myself anyway after the power was not working. Works good now and took maybe 5 mins.

If I can do this, anyone can. No doubt!!! LOL
