| Just startin' to fish muskie & my first time here, be patient boys....I'm addicted to walleyes also.....Thanks |

|
| Well if your addicted to walleyes then your sure to have a Rapala Husky Jerk in your box.....twitch and pause the heck out of those things and hang on....Muskies love them in the spring, especially cold springs like the one we have now.

| Sssshhhhh! Cory stop giving away secrets to those "walleye wackers"!!! Actually biggest fish I've seen (WR class) followed 3" baits (< 5% of fish's length)- go figure. When you have the answer send me an Email!
Wallytap- actually they seem to prefer smaller baits in the spring and will probably attack most of the standard stuff you use for big walleye's. Just use a good leader and at least 17lb test line +reel w/ good drag. Like Cory say's Husky Jerks are a good choice, I prefer #14 metallic green. Twitch, twitch - hang on!!!! Good luck. Just have the release tools ready!

| Jason I see you have been talking to much. The 5 inch slammer is the smallest bait I will use,the husky jerk works also. The pause is the key,twitch-twitch-pause. |

| I really like the large (5"?) Risto Rap because it is so very easy to cast and control, and when you pause, it immediately floats backwards smack dab into a following musky's face. It bounces off wood and rocks very well, too. I NEVER hear other musky nuts talking about this bait, but I think it's an excellent companion to the large husky jerk. Too bad it's been discontinued by Rapala; you can still find a few around, usually at discount prices.
Anybody else like these baits? (Probably not and that's why they're no longer made.)

| early spring, there are days when a #4, #5 mepps with a start and go and twitch action is killer on the toothy ones![;)] |

| Well the smallest plastic would be thundersticks or hot in tot, but you can grab some green slime with the jig and minnow..while you are chasing some table fare, it catches fish for me some in the mid 40ties

| Ranger,
I bought a ton of the Risto Raps at Wally World in Escanaba last year( FOR 2 BUCKS each!!) while visiting one of the Tuff Team Walleye Pros, (Chief) and found them to be KICK BUTT Muskie crankbaits when looking for a small lure.
5" Slammers are the smallest I will throw in an actual muskie lure, except for a 4" baby Creature.[] |

|
| #4 Mepps and a 5 inch Slammer is about as small as I'll go.
|
|

|
| Ditto on the 5" Slammers, small Cranes too.
Small bucktails with small blades in Colorado and French
Plastics less than 6" on swimmer heads
Gonna go with some 3/4 oz. Rattle Traps too.

| I think that you can't go wrong with a Mepps #5 early in the season. You can throw it all day without your arms falling off and it drives the Muskies crazy! |
