| Hi all, i'm new to crankbait building and have a question.
I'm tring to do eye screw myself from .072 wire for musky.
I use a big nail and a vise grip, i stuck the nail into something and a bend the wire over the nail the get a u shape after i take the 2 end of the wire with my vise grip and twist.
The problem, i dont get simetrical eye slot, they dont have the same shape or even size ,some are good and some bag.
Is there a beter way to do this???
If you could show me how to do with picture it would be beter...... | |

Location: Oregon | I used to stand a nail up vertically in a vise, then I would bring both ends of the wire around the nail and cross them. I would then grab the wire with a pair of pliers with a wide gripping jaw (not needlenose) on them and start twisting my way back. If you leave the wire on the nail until after you are done you should have a nice even loop every time. Don't worry if it's not perfect, it won't matter and if you glue and twist them like a screw they will never come out. Keep in mind that depending on how you twist the wire the screw may go in counter-clockwise.
