Location: Moline,IL | My friend has the 6'3" $39.99 Rod and it is very heavy for such a short rod. The $99 rods are the Pete Mainas I'm assuming? Those rods are pretty good for the money. |

| I have two of the 6'3" rods used primarily as sucker rods or for fishing rivers when wading which makes it easier to do a figure eight. Got them on sale for $20 each. Couldn't pass up the deal.

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | I have a sig. series Maina...not a light rod...For an extra 50 clams I believe you could get a custom-built edge series...I can't see going any other way for the money.

Location: Hayward, WI | I'm sure there is nothing wrong with them, but I would think a IM-6 rod would be a little heavy compared to what most of us are used to. For $100, I think you could find nicer rods to fish with. I have a Gander Tournament series IM-8 rod that I like quite a bit. For $80 I think it's a pretty nice rod. The 8 foot Shimano and 8+ foot Okumas are somewhere between 100 and 120 dollars. I do think the Pro Edge Series rod is around 180 or 189, so that's a bit more...depending on how much you want to spend.
If it's all you had available, I'm sure the BPS rod would be fine, but I think there are probably better deals out there.

Location: Maryland | My buddy i fish with has used nothing but the 6' bass pro rods for the past 5 years and has not one bit of trouble with them. They seem like a pretty sturdy rod but are a lil heavy compared too my 8' tele ticas. Now the okuma rods look pretty nice and i might be picking up one of there tele rods.

Location: Grand Rapids MN | I've only had cheaper rods until last year and it's a pretty big difference. I never had any problems but the cheaper units I have (1 shakespear, 1GM guide IM6) both have skinny handles and as mentioned are considerably heavier. I picked up a 8' Fenwick HMX and it's much lighter than my 7' and 6'3" with a thick cork handle. For a long day fishing makes a big difference. Search for sales/deals and you can get something pretty good for under $100. |
