I need to know who is interested....THIS WONT BE THE OFFICIAL SIGN UP THREAD, but I want to figure out if I need a 32 team bracket or a 16 team one.

The OFFICIAL sign up thread will be May 1st at 8pm central time. The order of sign up will determine your seed on the bracket...very important...because the LOWEST SEED is the TIE BREAKER if teams tie or blank.

You will have one month to set up and fish agenst the other team on the same day. Does not matter if one team is in Hayward and the other is on Cave Run, just as long as its the same day. You can fish SOLO as your own team if you want to take on the world by yourself. The rounds are every month starting June 1st.

If I had a 32 team bracket it would go like this:

JUNE........July........August........Sept......Oct finals
1
32..........
24 .........
16..........

14 ..........
19..........
25 .........
8...........

5 .............
28..........
12 .........
17..........

9 ..........
20..........
29 .........
4...........

3
30..........
21 .........
10..........

22 ..........
11..........
27 .........
6...........

7 ............
26..........
18 .........
13..........

15 ..........
23..........
31 .........
2...........

So...I am looking for some feed back,,, Who here is interested team or individual to to this fun event this summer. It sould not take up any more time or travel since you can fish your home waters.

OK Shady, lets go over the facts. When fishing together which of us has caught more fish? (I'll give you a hint, his initials are MT) Also, during our weekend outings, how many lures have I lost to you and how many have you lost to me (I just checked my tackle box and it's pretty full). I would think you'd be PAYING me to be your partner because of the bastion of muskie fishing excellence I bring to the team []

Ya you betcha dontcha know.

To all prospective opponents, a friendly side wager: I will supply both team members with a 1# block of fine WI Cheddar, if you beat us. If we beat you, we will win ??? Mull it over.

I'm in too! My partner is Chris P. He just registered a couple of days ago, and I don't know his board name. Maybe he's the one spreading all of the nasty rumors about sworall and his anatomy being chopped off.

He doesn't even know that he is on my team. Shhh don't tell him. He fishes better when the pressure is off.

Team names:
Team Dark Horse
Team Hanz and Franz
Team Peanut butter and jelly
Team Slamr's Pimp. (get it, slamr's our B!tch)

ALL IT TAKES FOLKS IT ONE DAY...DURING ONE MONTH...THAT YOU HAVE TO FISH UP AGENST SOME OTHER ANGLER IN ANOTHER PART OF THE COUNTRY. I suspect is wont change anyones current trips or plans for muskie fishing on a given month.

You can fish individuals, or with your kid.

NEW RULE!!!!

YOU CAN have a partner on your team that is NOT a member of this site.....I must have one person on each team be a member to run the event.

Posted 4/25/2002 5:44 PM (#30518)
Subject: Looking for feedback...on MF Match fishing event

The current Rules for this fun event are as follows!

Starting May 1st at 8pm central time on MuskieFIRST there will be a thread to sign your team up for a 32 team friendly members match fishing.

Rules are:

1)You can fish any waters but you must fish the same day as the team you are against in that round.

2)You have from 1 hr b4 Sun up to 1hr after Sun down to catch the 30" or better muskies for the event. But if you want to gamble and fish only 4hrs against the other team you can.

3)You have one month starting June 1st to find a date to match fish or you both teams are DQ'd....If one team is free and the other is never free, then Slamr and myself will make the call on it...but lets put me and Slamr in that spot.

4)Points are 30"=4pts and 1 point for every inch over that. Half inches are rounded up. So a 35-1/4" is 9 points.

5)All fish must be released safely....if we hear differently...the team is DQ'd.

6)If in case of a tie or BLANK by both teams. The team that signs up FIRST for the contest on May 1st will the winner. VERY IMPORTANT TO SIGN UP RIGHT AWAY ON MAY 1ST AT 8PM CENTRAL TIME.

7)All teams must present info to the other teams, phone and email to put the times together. This info must be exchanged by the teams they have to match fish agenst.

8)All teams must have a teams names (Slammers) ect.

9)Team bracketing will be done by order of entrys...1st team to enter is #1 seed, and so on.

10)You can fish any waters; even Canada. But you have to catch the fish. What ever you think it takes to beat the other team, honestly!.

11)You must have all fish verified and put on site by digital camera or scanned photos.

12)Once you have the date verified you have to email me. I will give the name of a household utensil that must be in the photo..This will be really funny!!!

13)MF is the governing body...and if someone cheats...they are DQ'd.

14)If you have to go up against a team that is DQ'd you win by forfiet.

15)All team partners must fish together.

16)We are using all state and local rules here. If your lake is one line, no trolling and you are up agenst a trolling four lines...Well its up to you to fish a lake that you think you can beat the other team on. Your call on what water and what method it will take to win.

17) You and your teammate can't use a guide..but you can be a guide and be in the contest with a member of this site. Example..Richard Collins can fish with Slamr as his teammate..

18)ONE teammate must be registered user on this site. You can fish alone if you want to take on the world by yourself. I need at least one site member so I can email and run the event.

JUNE 1ST 32 TEAMS
JULY 1ST 16 TEAMS...SWEET SIXTEEN
AUG. 1ST 8 TEAMS....ELETE EIGHT
SEPT 1ST 4 TEAMS....FINAL FOUR
OCT. 1ST 2 TEAMS....MF WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!

Winner just gets site bragging rights!!!! to be MuskieFIRST WORLD CHAMPION!!!

If team seed #9 is up agenst team #22.. they have to work together over a span of one month by email or phone to work out the date when both teams can get on there water..

So you have one month..to figure out ONE day or half day...or what ever time you have to compete.

The time frame of the match fishing days is noted in the rules.

Dude...now that the brain freeze has begun to thaw...
* I got as much chance as a snowball in a woodstove if I enter...
-MAYBE 1 musky per 5 miles of river/lake IF I'm lucky...
-Work every Saturday...
-I've lost more fish than I've caught...
-Extremely unlikely I could find a musky partner here for the contest making it nigh daggone impossible for a photo session...
----Let me think about it...wouldn't be the first time I got the big O !!![:(] [:sun:]

Jason,

Some clarification, please....

Am I correct in assuming that I cannot take two or more different non-board-members on as teammates during the course of the tourney? In other words, if I fish with a non-registered board member in the first round and we win, that same guy/gal is the only guy/gal who I can fish with in the second round? Just want to be sure of all the options. Thanks!

Is it fear as to why people aren't getting into this? Just kidding, really all it takes is one day/month on the water, of course coordinated with another team, and you're good to go! Tell me you guys don't fish at least one saturday a month! If you're thinking its stupid to go up against the pros...what is your investment, versus what is your potential for pride gain? Just try it, you'll like it!!

Jason,

Your innovative MF Match Fishing idea sounds as if it will be a "big time" success. Although I have yet to contact any of my regular Musky Bros, with the exceedingly high entertainment and bragging potential of such an event, there can be little doubt left as to whether the Ohio, Kentucky,Indiana (Tri-State area) will be represented. Count us in for at least one team, possibly a couple more, as I spread the word down here in my neck of the woods.

Just to make sure...
NO sign-up until 8:00 p.m. Wed. May 1st.
Seeding based soley upon order of sign-up 5-1-02
Matches start in June
One-and-out type format, last team standing takes all.
Winner to be declared MF Champion for that year,to include (but not limited to)ALL associated bragging rights.

Team "Fin-Addicts" hopes to see a full board Wednesday evening as we look forward to the upcoming challenge. Are there any other teams from near or below the Mason / Dixon Line? MI Chapter 42 or 45 members looking to hook-up? It may be possible to partner you with someone if you are interested in helping to represent our fair region of Muskiedome in this upcoming "titantic" struggle. Let me know here,ASAP. I will see if I can help you get it done.

It's not exactly a match challenge, but the Battle of Oukachee is the 18th....a pre-lim to the full season's battle. I know me and Musky Fever and facing off against Jason "The Dwarf" Smith and Corey "$1 Bill" Painter.....and I believe Setme31 and someone. Who else is in??? Early, early, early start (do I hear 4AM???) on Oukachee, moving to Oconomoc later in the day.

One question???

If we fish on a day when one of the team members has to work... can you fish solo for part of the day and then together later????

And the judges say?????

Posted 4/30/2002 2:57 PM (#30544)
Subject: Looking for feedback...on MF Match fishing event

Theedz,
I'll have to run it by the Dwarf, but since it doesn't appear to give you an advantage to go 1/2 day solo, and 1/2 day with someone, no reason to say no to that. If you can fish a day solo and be counted, why not a 1/2 day solo and a half day together. The point is to get as many teams in as possible without giving any overt advantages.
