I think they are a different strain. It could contribute to the cooler patterns and larger average growth size... that could be why people refer to them often as European pike

Cool pics. I like the contrast colors of the zander, odd looking walleys, girthy and big. Would be cool to have a lake over here with some of those straiins in them.

Anyone know if they have tried to stock European Pike in North America? I know they tried it with Zander, but I think they were either unsuccessful or didnt want them to get out and ruin other bodies of water.
