I am planning on doing some painting this weekend and was wondering would you guys screw in the hook eyes in before or after painting.

I pre-drill my holes in a lure blank, seal the wood, primer, paint design, one coat epoxy, re-drill out my screw eye holes, put screw eyes in with cement on them, then add two more coats of epoxy, then re-drill out my holes for the metal bill screws, and fianlly add my metal bill with screws that have cement on them.

Depends.

If your just making baits for yourself, go ahead and screw them in before you paint. It saves some time.

For "production" baits, I suggest screw eyes be the last step. You get a more finished look, and if done right you dont compromise the integrity of the bait at all.
