| I am planning on doing some painting this weekend and was wondering would you guys screw in the hook eyes in before or after painting. | |

Location: Land of the Musky | I pre-drill my holes in a lure blank, seal the wood, primer, paint design, one coat epoxy, re-drill out my screw eye holes, put screw eyes in with cement on them, then add two more coats of epoxy, then re-drill out my holes for the metal bill screws, and fianlly add my metal bill with screws that have cement on them. | |

| Depends.
If your just making baits for yourself, go ahead and screw them in before you paint. It saves some time.
For "production" baits, I suggest screw eyes be the last step. You get a more finished look, and if done right you dont compromise the integrity of the bait at all. | |
