| Reading the recent posts about dogs reminded me of a tale of woe involving a dog. Might be useful to you, so here goes...
A good friend's rottie playfully stuck his head deep inside my buddy's styrofoam cooler he uses for a tackle box. You know, he was hanging baits all around the outside and inside of the cooler? Anyway, when the dog raised his head he had a number of big baits hanging off his neck, ears and face. Then the dog tried to shake the baits off. Yes indeed. My friend and his wife ended up calling 911 and a number of volunteer firemen (YAY!) quickly arrived to help hold the dog (wrapped the dog in a sleeping bag, I think) and they finally pulled the hooks with pliars.[:((] [:blackeye:] The dog is ok, and they'll never let the dog have access to the baits again. |

| I had a very similar experience, a buddies dog jumped in my boat and ended up with a crankbait in his mouth. The dog then tried to remove the bait with his paw and ended up with his paw hooked to another hook. It was a very unpleasent experience and has taught me to clean up my baits when docking my boat.
By the way after a trip to the vet the dog was fine. |

| I hooked me first wife in the chin on a windy day...she was slinging those arms like a duck trying to take off...I tried to break her off but couldn't so I reeled in the line to where she was, cut the line + off to the E-Room we went..NO JOKE!!! Turned out she....nahhhh...she was ok I guess![:sun:] |

| I can relate to this one. I have a Rottweiler named Miko (pronounced Meeko). She absolutely loves to go out in the boat. Problem is she is extremely curious. As I was in the front of the boat casting one day, I heard quite a noise and turned to find Miko attached to my crane bait and flailing my rod and reel wildly about the boat. It was a riot. Thank God for bolt cutters. I had to hold her down and cut the hooks since she had them completely through her lip. I now keep the boat extremely clean when she is alone. The problem is keeping her in the boat. She gets so excited with each cast and thinks we are playing catch. Her momentum usually carries her into the water at least once per trip. It's hard pulling an 80lb. water logged Rott back into the boat........... |
