| All of these great carp patterns has me inspired to do one myself. Here is my rough draft. Hopefully can paint tomorrow...
I've been toying with thru wire this year by running 0.062" nose to tail through a tunnel that I bore through the plug. The belly hooks drop off the main tunnel. This time I pulled the wire through the belly lead hole and locked them together with molten lead. This way I can recess the nose and tail flush with the bait.
Almost a shame to paint over that maple wood grain...

Location: Burton, Ohio | Hey everyone. Man there are some great carp patterns out there! Chad I really like how you do the center scale paint spots!!!!!!!!!
Ironically I just finished this one today. It is a 9" crankbait. I really like carp. Man do we have fun catching those buggers in the summer on corn. Boy do they fight hard! I know this is musky forum! LOL

Location: Burton, Ohio | Lemay, It was a small piece of plastic netting I found at a job site. I work in the construction trades and found it in the mud in the parking lot. It just works for covering a side. I have to do one side at a time. It was a pink color. It may have been bleached from the sun. I have no idea what it was for. I am bumming a bit........... When I spray the paint over it is starting to melt!!!!!!!!!!!!! I may try to cut the pattern out on some fabric. That will be some fun!
Yake............ Incredible construction process. I hear you on the maple and painting over it. I can't wait to see the end product.
Etch I know you are do for a new batch soon I bet!
Thanks
John Snow

| My carp turned a lot less like a carp compared to the others on this thread. If I do it again, I would use a little less black in the overall paint scheme and maybe more of a thinner lateral line, but I liked it well enough to keep going rather than wipe the paint clean from the plug and starting over. I really like dzklrz the scale highlights on some of dzklrz's lures and this was my feeble attempt to emulate that. The "lead lock" construction technique worked out pretty well. I think it will make for a solid connection even though it technically is not "thru wire".

| Had to do one more. Still a bit heavy on the black but I kind of liked the way the last one turned out. Had to do a repeat because the carp profile of the original did not lend well to a good glide bait design. This one is more symmetrical about the line tow and hopefully will behave better in the water.
