Location: Pewaukee, WI | Mike "extreme one" Koepp is recovering from shoulder surgery on monday to repair injuries he sustained in a "Packer Game half time tip-up incident on Pewaukee Lake"
Seems he tried to put the hurt on the ice with his shoulder while chasing out to the tip-up. The good news is he still iced the 19.5" walleye...the bad news is fractures, surgery, 8 screws and 15 staples to repair the damage.
Rumor has it he didnt want to be sedated during surgury so he could watch the end of the Packer game, and wanted to know if he could still get back out on the ice that night.
Currently Mike is resting at home.
(He is still able to drink Corona's and type with one finger on the computer so drop him a line and send your best.)
Get well soon Pal!

Winston Churchill IS CREDITED WITH THAT QUOTE; But I think he heard it first from a PACKER fan. Just my opinion though. |

| That's why he is called The EXTREME One!
Broke shoulder, and he still lands the fish, and I bet he tried to stay out there, even when in immense pain.
You guys better look out. While laid up, he'll be looking at lake maps for next summer. He's the best I know at picking apart a lake! Now, he'll be even better.
Get well soon, Mike. I know Deb is already sick of you laying around the house!

Will you be giving lectures in the Waterfront Musky College while you're healing?

If not we will have to have a bunch at the Milwaukee swap. |

I think that with all that stainless in him now he'll have to be sure not to fall in, he'll sink like one of Smokies old boat anchors. There goes his free pass through the airport check stop, he'll be buzzing like a top water propbait on a still lake.

| I talked with the Extreme Dude yesterday. Seems he broke his clavical in a few pieces. Clavical is a quick healing injury, and his shoulder should not be affected. He'll be good as new in about 4 weeks. At least Gillespie was. So, all this sympathy BS can stop here. Let the ridicule begin!
Hey, ya putz. Next storm, I'll come down and plow with you as shutgun!

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Thanks for all the posts guys. I guess I was due to have one of these ice injurys sooner or later. I wish I could post the x-ray. I broke it in 4 pieces but they got it all back together that next morning with a plate and some screws. Now just need to let it heal, this is the hardest part. I can't type much or do anything with my right arm.
Doc says I will be strong as I was in six weeks. Bones will all heal and the metal plate will enable me to be even more durable.
DC2's---Bring on the DC12's and MOJO monsters and Gerry's Crazy Girls. I will be part machine now.
As for trolling that is for July and August. Casting is always my choice to catch fish. But, when it time to troll................Look out!!!
Seriously though, I see the importance of family and friends. Sometimes an accident will open your eyes a bit. Eyes are wide open now. Thanks to all of you who e-mailed, PM'ed and posted from this site. |

Location: Lino Lakes, MN | Yo Mike, I hope you heal up and get back in the saddle pretty soon. I'll be going in to get my shoulder done in the coming weeks and its gonna be a long recovery so I'll probably miss the opener but hopefully not much more than that. Sounds like you are going to have a quicker recovery which is great. Best of luck to ya...give me a shout if you're bored and got nothing going on. The worst part of being injured is being stuck to the house and not able to do much skiing/hiking/snowshoeing. |

| Based on the PM Mike sent to me in response to my calling him a "Punk!", well, it appears...
1) he's pushing his physical therapy regime hard and healing unusually quickly, and
2) is attitude is quite positive and fiesty, not at all like a "Punk."
So, I must acknowledge that he's indeed a tough hombre and I must formally withdraw all that "Punk" crappola.
(BTW - I've been aquainted with, and admired, Mike for some years now and he knew all along I was just kidding around.)
