I'm looking at hooking a 9.9 hp pro kicker to my 150hp opti on my Fish Hawk.
I'm told that because of the sea star hyd. steering, I need a $ 300.00 tie bar from Merc. Is there a cheaper way to do this?

Yes. You can use threaded rod and compression type fittings attached to the tab on the front of the main power.

This is the front of a Verado, but you get the idea. Not sure what the Opti 150 tab looks like, can't remember, and there isn't one at this show.

Tons of 4 strokes, though.

Not sure how far the motors will be offset, but I think I tied mine together for less than $100. I purchased all the parts(except the black fuel line that I purchased at Lowes which covers the threaded rod) from Mr. Marine and had them shipped to me in OH. Anyway, I will attach the photos the way I have is set up on my 1860 Angler. Oh Yeah, I was also directed to use Loctite(the strong stuff).

from TOP H20:

I was just in a Gander Mtn. a few hrs. ago and saw the "bar" that connects the two motors for something like $27.00-$29.00

I may be wrong but its worth checking out.

You need more than just the bar for a clean install. Here's a link to the post where I show mine, and the P/N's to do it. I think Pamp's stock the SeaStar parts. The way Wade has his works well, too.

Don't forget the TrollMaster throttle control!
