Got down to Chicago just after the doors opened today and waited in line to get in for about 15 mins. Once in most of the major tackle companys seemed pretty busy. We walked around and made a few purchases and checked some more things out. Lots of show colors and custom stuff to be had at almost all booths. I did pickup lots of new things as I walked around. Overall it did seem that sales in Chicago were not the same as last season. I'd be curious to hear from an exhibitor. Didn't see many rods walking around and mostly small bags. I did what I could to help the cause. Great show again. Got some Krushers, Mojo gear, Some videos, a Mini Cowgirl and some Custom DDD from Kurt's Island. Lots of Friendly people willing to do what they could to make sure you were a happy customer. Can't wait for Milwaukee......I'm sure others made the trip lets hear what you came away with.

Krushers are the lures that look like the tuff shads, tuff shads aren't made anymore.

Those are some nice looking baits! Nice and shiny, and just waiting for tooth marks! A lot of those paint jobs look really great.

This was my first year attending and I LOVED IT!

Got 20% off on a rod from Thorne Bros. (Shimano Compre). Got that for around $80, and bought an Okuma Induron 400 to go along with it. My friend saved about $80 on a Loomis stick he bought from them too.

Besides a rod and reel, I got the following.

- 2 Phantoms and a Pro-Logic swimbait all for $20
- 1 Slammer Glider (OH MY GOD ARE THESE SWEET!)
- 2 DBL showgirls
- 1 Cowgirl
- 1 Uptown Dawg
- 1 Smity jerkbait
- some other minor and possibly unneeded crap. HAHA

I'm still rather new to this website, but I'm pretty sure there were quite a few in attendance from here today. Saw a few guys sporting the sweatshirts.

Great show, I got my money's worth, and I'll be back next year.

Mr. Musky,

Put a tough shad beside that lure and take a picture. I'd be curious to see the differences. Looks like a lot different lips. Also looks like a different shape. Take a picture somebody and place it on here, I bet there's a big difference.

Stop by our booth at the Chi show. I'd be happy to talk to you about some of the innovations that went into the Krusher. We will also be at the Milwaukee show, Ohio show and the Minn show, or you can just give me a call 847-302-7558.

Back to the original Post
We had a great Friday, one of the best. There seemed to less people than previous years but we still kept busy making customs non stop from the time the doors opened till close. The Krushers went well especially to the people who had seen them in action. and a lot of interest in the new DC-9’s and Mag Nut Busters.
Chad cain and Matt (Smilin Mallard) Snyder Booked a bunch of trips on Verm & Chad, Scott and Josh booked a bunch on Kinkaid especially after their great spring last year. I didn’t get much of a chance to check out much of the show, liked the Suzy sucker stuff Andy has some cool new custom colors, the true glides look sweet and saw some really nice SS shads.
T-Rino Thanks for your purchases. I think you will be impressed.

Mr Musky, Yes I picked up everything from all the pictures. 18 baits total and could have went with more. I asked for Cash for Xmas just to go buy baits at the shows. I think the Mayhem video is 65mins give or take. From what I saw it looks to be a winner. Didn't have a chance to watch all of the DVDs since I have a 2yr old at home that likes to look at new baits. The Madness III video is like an hour and a half. Still need to get a few things in Milwaukee. Didn't come up with a Bucher Big Foot yet and always need more Cowgirls and JR's. Hope everyone had a great time.

Edit...Musky Madness III is 1hr 50mins

In regards to the Tuff Shads: Chris IS making the WOOD Tuff Shads in 5" and 8" sizes. There has been alot of confusion about this. I have nothing to do with Tuff Shads, except fish the heck out of them.

Go here to read about them.

Just to clear things up reguarding the Krusher I went to find some open water today to test this bait. IMO the Tuff Shad is more of a trolling bait. This thing should be great for both casting and trolling. I found the Krusher to be very nice casting and twitching. If twitched harder it kinda walks the dog like a hell hound. The wobble was much wider than a Tuff Shad. I think this is going to be a pretty solid bait this season.

Awesome show! I picked up the following.

1 - Krusher
1 - Wild Action Series Weagle
1 - 11" Curly Sue
1 - Termoil
5 - Trueglides (custom Bluegill topwater, new Heckler, Humpback, Guppie, and soft tail Humpback)

Customs were everywhere!!! A lot of nice baits, not enough $$$$$. Within a few weeks I'll also be ordering a rod or two from Keith at Professional Edge after talking to him and seeing his rods.

Good time indeed. I had a bag that weighed 20#s by the time I was done. Got some Dawgs, Suzie suckers and curly sues, wild action weagle, 10" weagle, howie, tripple Ds, Pretty much just restocking. Nothing new, but the sweet new frog colored weagle. That puppy is gonna get chomped lots, as is the Howie.

Now I just need some open water. Think a Brown would eat them??

As far as the trueglides go, I got to the show Friday right before noon. By the time I left at 4:00, many of the new colors/baits were already sold. Joe still had plenty of the good old favorites in some of the more familiar, yet awesome, patterns.

I apoligize for mentioning that the Krusher is taking place of the Tuff Shad, I said that wrong, what I meant was that the Krusher kind of has the same profile/look as the tuff shad, it doesnt look unique or different as would a Depthraider compared to a Ernie compared to a Triple D. It does look to be a great lure and im sure it is and I cant wait to get my hands on a few I am in no way knocking this new bait.

One thing I noticed and I asked karen De Pietro and she concurred, I have never seen so many women at the musky show. It was great to see.

I bought a bunch of storm stuff, kickin slab, a few with the tail blades, the razorback and one with the curly tail. I bought a triple jointed bait from bikini bait and a turmoil. I bought a nate bait and one of chae dolsen's new rubber baits. I bought a spinnerbait from ducktail lures, a glider from slammer tackle and a couple krushers from lungen. 2 wades wobblers(with the tail spinners) from smokeys. I also bought a bucktail with 4 #10's on it from muskie mojo. I think that was everything.

I really liked the esox cobra spinnerbait but i will wait untill the milwaukee show for that.

I missed out on the 7000 conversion rollie and helens were doing. Luckily they will be doing it at milwaukee and with the help of Don Chin. I will take it there.

I bought a few baits at the swap meet. A zalt, mann's deep diving shad, a perka and a big wad's wobbler.

i kept to the budget, managing to leave with $5 in my pocket and only spent money that i'd raised by selling other un-used gear this winter.

Abu power handle
Stealth 4' trolling leaders (6) (thanks for building them last minute, John!)
Muskie Madness III
Red October split-tail monster tubes (these sold out fast)

Bou Bling (Kevin's ties are great and i like the new blade arrangement)
Hellhound (custom color)
Krusher
Lip Ripper (Smokey's had 50% off a ton of baits)
Grandma (swap meet)
LoWRider

11" Curly Sue
Howie (i got the very last one off the rack when we packed up!)
WA Wabull
WA Weagle

lots and lots of good looking stuff this year, can't wait for open water!

Good time for my first trip down to Chicago. Scored a Nimmer swimmer Wolly Pog, Big game tackle balsa twitch in white belly perch, 6 1/2 weighted bobbie in white belly perch, Squirrely phantom, and a slippery slider in watermelon. Will see you guys at Milwaukee, looking forward to it.

Chuck Brod of Sportsman's Repair is able to change the gears in the 7000 series from the stock 5.3:1 to the lower 4.1:1. The reel that guys typically want this conversion done to is the 7000IHSN. Chuck will be in the Rollie & Helen's booth. We may actually bring some new reels to Milwaukee with the conversion already done. If you have a reel you'd like Chuck to convert for you I'd suggest contacting him prior to the show. It helps to know how much equipment for him to bring etc.

Well... If I had a wife she'd be proud of me. I actually went home with more money than I came with.

I think I am officially cured of my lure addiction! It took several years and thousands of dollars, but gone are the days lf leaving the shows with two 20# bags of baits. I bought the Muskie Madness III video, and only two lures. Yes, I said TWO.

- "Howie" If you didn't see them, this is Muskie Mojo's soft tailed hawg wobbler kinda thing, which I hear was designed by some washed up old fart fishing guide (get well soon old man, we missed 'ya down here!) One of the few lures I've ever looked at and had to have because I have no doubt it will catch fish. (instead of just wanting it because its cool)

- WA Wabull. After having the privledge of fishing with one of the prototypes (and missing a couple fish on it) I HAD TO have one. Unlike many soft tailed gliders, this one has the same action as its non-tailed counterpart. If you don't have one of these you're missing out!

I actually sold about 20 baits at the swap, too. It was hard watching them go, as I'm a bit attached to my lures. But a lure is useless when it just sits in your box because you have 15 others just like it. So to the guys who bought my babies, good luck, hope you get a 50 on them, and leave the water thinking that the guy who sold them to you was an idiot for letting them go so cheap.

Mr. Musky, you asked about the Mayhem video. Basically a suped-up hour long infomertial on the Cowgirl/Showgirl. A couple good figure-8 strikes and hookups but a LOT of after the strike footage. Fish hits, then camera gets rolling-misses out on the actual strikes. Plus the last 10 minutes or so of nothing but still frames of people who caught fish on Mayhem tackle. Pictures of fish...great, I can find those on the internet or in a magazine, not on a supposed "action video" I just purchased. I was pretty disappointed considering how much the guy at the booth hyped it up being "full of action & great footage.."

Had a great time at the show...picked up a load of bulldawgs, double cowgirls and the new Musky Mayhem and Badfish videos. I have to respectfully disagree with the post above, as I found the Musky Mayhem video to be very well put together with fast-paced action throughout. As usual, I enjoyed the Badfish video as well.

Both are well done and will certainly help pass the long winter months.

Great job done by the organizers of the show as well.

Had another great time as always at these events. I'm convinced I'm the only one who fills up a giant coffee mug with Beer, other than my partner in crime. Milwaukee sure has an edge in that regard...

I said I wasn't going to buy anything other than a Ty Sennett hoodie, but 5 min into the place I had a video & a Supermodel in my hand. Next stop another Musky Armor hoodie & ordered a few of thier dbl 13 bucktails. I think that put me over the 1000 mark for total muskie lures owned now...

Stopped at Hooters on the way home for some wings & watched a football game. Another great day! Would have been better if the Packers lost, but I'll get over it. Now I'm going to hear all the Packer fan hoopla all week..
