Anyone use any Quantum Iron reels?

If you do, what kinds of applications are you running on them?

I've been doing some online searches and the price and availability on these seems to be decent - especially if I'd like to get a reel I can use as a spare "junker" and not worry about the price.

thanks.

I bought an iron acs300 and it is a great reel. I think I have backlashed it once. It just does not backlash. I bought it new on ebay for half of what they go for new. The only knock is fishing below freezing temps. The nut that holds the pawl in place for the levelwid srew is plastic and the buildup of ice in the reel will break that nut off. Other than that, no problems.

I love my Quantum Iron, she's an old warhorse from way back, not sure what one I have but she has a fast retrieve. My biggest fish on here was a 45 incher just a fat sow right at moonrise. The only thing I dont like about her is that I could never tighten my drag down tight enough for my liking. She'd always slip a bit. So I had to get into the habit of hammering my Thumb down hard and fast when the muskellunge struck my bait. It sucked. But I kept the old girl for a row trolling reel nowadays, she performs. doesn't see many fish but I always remember what she reeled in for me. Specially in Canada. i have a soft spot for the old irons. Brings me back to the Abu 5000 days. Red reel. worked great.
