Location: chicago | My son is back safe from Iraq. But before he came back I took out a Marine on leave for a day of muskie fishing. The pressure was on as the day wore on. Ten minutes before sundown I was able to hook him up with a 30". The smile on his face when the little guy did a tail splash and got his face wet on the release was well worth the time and effort to get him a fish. My boat is open to any vet Of Iraq or Afghanistan this coming year. If you would like to try and hook one on the Fox Chain in Illinois, shoot me a e mail. Would like to see more guys on this site with the same offer in other areas. |

Location: The desert | Thats awesome stuff sarge! Glad to hear you got him on a fish! I'd really like to take out a vet or someone on leave, but with no boat it's tough. I'm always willing to take someone on the ice or out musky fishing during the season, just let me know. Thanks to everyone who has served and is serving, your sacrifices dont go unnoticed. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Lambeau and I were discussing this yesterday, the subject has come up a couple times because a few of the Guides are regulars here.
http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=39...
MuskieFIRST will be recording interviews with some of the volunteer Guides at the Chicago and Milwaukee Muskie shows. We will have some coverage of the event as well, if things go as planned.
This is a great thing for all involved to have set in motion.
Of course, the Hideout is open to anyone anytime as long as there's room available, and I'm all about getting out on the water. |

| BTL Chapter of MI has been doing this for the last two years now. I volunteer for this each year, and it's a blast. Just getting to hear the stories, and see guys from 18-80 come out for a day of fishing is a great site to see. I haven't seen it, but there was an article written about this in the Muskie magazine approx. a year ago or so.
It's nice to see the support, and hopefully more local clubs will start doing this for the men/women that give us the freedom to hit the water whenever we feel the urge.

Location: Hayward, Wisconsin | Muskysarge that is great, as is Operation Muskie...it even got Pearson out of retirement!
Any Vets coming to Hayward are welcome to spend a day in my boat, schedule permitting. Just shoot me an email at: [email protected]
I'll look forward to sharing a day on the water with some of our "Protector's of Freedom"! |

Location: Long Prairie, Minnesota | I just posted on the Operation Muskie thread as well, so I will throw it up here as well. The Chicago Sun Times just ran an article about Operation Muskie in the today's (Sunday) paper. Here is the link for it: http://www.suntimes.com/sports/outdoors/727807,CST-SPT-bowman06.article I really wish that there were about 20000 openings for Operation Muskie instead of only 20 as every vet is deserving of this type of gratitude. If this continues into next year, i would love to do it in MN or perhaps WI. Hardest thing to come up with is the lodging for this type of event. But I have put alot of hours into this and it is worth every second. Hard to believe this is what has grown out of an email between Dick Pearson and myself over his next book!

| I was recently contacted by a friend that does a lot for Wounded Warrior project, as well. This was something that was mentioned to me. I will do what I can, where I can, when I can, and however I can. Some of these guys have given, literally, their arm and leg for this country, and they deserve nothing but the utmost respect. If I could find time to take a guy every day of the year, and still do what I needed to do to be a father, husband, and professional, I'd do it in an instant.

Location: Racine, Wi | If there's anything planned for Wisconsin, I'd be more than willing to help out. My dad, both grandpas, and a couple of uncles are all vets. I have the utmost respect for you all, and would be more than willing to share a boat with you.
If there's a way I can help (outside of going to LOTW as I don't think I can pull that off), let me know.
Shane, if you know of anything, or need help setting something up, let me know how I can help. |
