Location: Maribel WI | Thinking of ordering a Pete Mania Rod and Reel combo for $150. Id get the 4.2:1 reel for the DCs and use the rod for suckers. Really like the price. Anyone have any experience with them?
Thanks

Location: Indiana | I love the rods!!! I have an 8 and 1/2 footer two piece and it is awesome. I love that they break down...and are still great rods even with that. I also have a 7 and 1/2 footer one piece that I like. It's not as light as IM8 graphite, but for the price, they absolutely can't be beat. You have quite a bit of feel with them, and the longer rods work fantastic for jerk baits. I think they're about 100 bucks each.
The reels on the other hand aren't the best. Got one of the reels as part of combo...my first muskie gear. The reel didn't make it through the first season. I still love that rod though. And I may be wrong, but the reels don't have a clicker. They would be fine to keep as a spare though. |

| The reels have clickers. I had one as a backup and also blew it up in one season. They make decent trolling reels if you don't care about line counters (clicker is pretty loud, at least one mine it was). |

| I would recomend the Mania combos. The 8' rod is nice for the Double 10's the 8'6" is just a little soft IMO. The 4.2-1 reel I used last season for the big blades, ripping cranks, Kickin Minnows and big Swimming Joes it has held up very well. |

Location: Indiana | I guess I stand corrected Esox50.
It's been a few years since I threw it in my muskie junk box. |

| I have 3 Maina combos and they worked just fine. Just keep them clean and lubricated and it will be fine. I kind of retired mine and they are used for catfishing now since I have higher end equipment now. All of my Maina rods are the telescoping 8' and they are really solid rods for the money. |

Location: lansing, il | i have thrown gerrygirls and spankybaits the past 2 years with the low gear maina reel and it has held up fine. i dont think you can find a better reel for the money, these things are durable and last..i think i have blown up one other maina reel in 5 years and they replaced it no questions asked. these reels get alot of work/abuse from other people who fish with me, son, his buddies or friends who need equipment. the rods are also pretty decent for the price, they are no pro edge custom but when you need to loan someone a rod to use they are great! |

| I'll say, too, that if you have an issue with it BPS will take care of you. I sent mine in once with a minor issue and received a brand new reel. I guess the easiest thing for them to do is just ship a new one out and not bother with repairing the original. Worked for me (well, at least for a little while...)! |

Location: South Portsmouth, KY | I have 3 or 4 mania combos and i love them. The reels are smooth and durable and the rods are solid built. The only issue i have with the rods are if you use the weight balancer on the butt end of the rod, over time, it will start breaking off in there. But nothing a little electrical tape cant fix. A very good bargain!

Location: Grand Rapids, Michigan | i love the rods but hate the reels. I have had 3 reels break within the first year of fishing them; one of them breaking within just a month. I have heard different things about them, but I will never buy one again. |

Location: The Sportsman, home, or out on the water | Mania Rods and Reels will soon be available at The Sportsman. No need to mail order or travel because Appleton is closer to Maribel than Gurnee, and you probably travel to Appleton/ Fox Valley at least once a year, if not more so. |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | I have a MANIA reel in 4.2:1 gears that I have upgraded with ABEC 7 spool bearings, CARBONTEX DRAG with polish bright SS washers, polish all contact points on the spool shaft, shim the gears, polish the inside of the pinion gear, and oil and grease the reel with HOT SAUCE, and switch out the short handle to a Shimano Trinidad TN12 Power handle. and this reel is a SWEET WORKHORSE REEL. The gears in this reel are very large and wide on par with Shimano Calcutta gears, the only weak part in this reel is the clutch spring and the anti -reverse bearing, U need to replace them every year.
