I have an old 7000 syncro that I use for trolling and it works great!! Just always remember to pull the handle of the reel back so the drag can work while trolling. When fighting a fish I use the free spool instead of the drag so I dont use the Syncro drag at all during battle. I would only imagine the line counter ones would work the same. GREAT!
