Abu Reel question....

Can I change the gears from a high-gear ratio to a low-gear ratio? I think the Abu I have is 6.1 or 6.2:1. I'd like to get it somewhere in the 4.2:1 area...if at all possible?? Just trying to save some dough....don't want to buy a whole new reel if I don't have to...Thanks.

Ck on your pinion gear, if it has 2 slots or 4 where it engages with the reel brakes, newer reels last 3 years will have 4 slots older reels will have only 2 slots. If it has 2 slots U can go down to a 3:8:1 gear or 5:1:1 gear. If your pinion gear has 4 slots then you can only go down to a 5:1:1 gear.

Try www.ifish.net, then go to DISCUSS, then go to TECH TIPS & KEEPERS, then go down to CARBONTEX UPGRADE FOR 5 & 6 SERIES ABASSADUE. I hope that works.
