I bought a Honda 9-9 four-stroke this summer and have gotten a couple different answers when it come's to draining the feul. Some say just drain the carb with the small screw under it, and others say run the gas out. Also was told to drain the carb and don't run it out of gas because the gas lubes a diapham in the feul system, what do you guy's do? first fourstroke and I don;t want any problems come spring. Thanks Dave

No expert here, especially with hondas, but I have always made sure I ran fuel with Stabil through it before putting my motors to hibernation. Haven't had any troubles in the past, but they've all been work boats that don't get to sleep for long.

I have a 2000 75 hp Mercury 4 stroke, which is a Yamaha powerhead. After spending nearly $450.00 having a mechanic go through the carbs (all four) and cleaning them a year ago, I asked him what I could do to help prevent this problem again. Keep in mind that I was already keeping FRESH GAS in the tank and USING STABIL. The reputable mechanic said drain the carbs on this particular engine when I winterize.

I have a 2006 Honda 15 hp. DON'T drain off the fuel. This comes from a local dealer who got the poop from a Honda rep who had visited his store. I have used Stabil since day one. Both winters I have carried it to the basement. I just couldn't commit to leaving out in cold all winter. Was planning on covering it with a large garbage container, but.......

I know what the manual states but that rep said their experience made them change their decision. It should state it in the newer manuals, 07 and 08. Email Honda also and ask them directly.
