I really don't miss muskie fishing during the off season, as I snowboard about 2-4 days a week...keeps me in shape and don't dwell on the lack of fishing...We have gotten sooooo much snow here in Colorado the last couple of weeks the season has been great...What do you all do?

Ben do you live in colorado now? Cool.

I goto sprt shows, I still do some fishing too. My back told me excersize is something you will have to do if you want to do what you want so that is part of my every day plan and on days I have off when I don't have plans I work out alot.

Actually make it to class and put an attempt into studying......wait, I can ice fish, guess that idea is shot down too. Ice fish and drink, thats how I pass the off season. Ice fished today, tonight I drink, but tomorrow I work, boy that throws a wrench in things!

Work and ice fishing are a few things, but mostly hanging out with my 2 little girls. Man do they take up a lot of time. I was actually looking forward to the season ending this year so I would have some time free to rest for once. This year flewwwww by. My fishing time wasn't reduced too much, but my free time was limited. So now that 'ski season is over, it's work, play with the kids, sleep (sometimes). Then repeat. Fun times indeed.

I usually get into some "project" of some kind...usually some add-ons to the boat. I also spend a little time on the ice going after northerns on tip-ups.

Been thinking of getting into building some baits...just have not pulled the rigger yet.

Then...I spend a fair share of time here perusing the board.

I'm a winter idiot too. Obviously with a family you keep plenty busy. But when the control tower is black I enjoy playing hockey, poker, sleds, ice fishing, good dark beers and Call of Duty 4 at night.

FInd some fix it up projects inside the house, go to sport shows, watch a lot of videos, and read a lot of muskie magazines. The occassional ice fishing outing puts a fix on the fishing bug.

I'm going in Monday to have a heart valve replaced that should have been replaced last winter, but I have been way to busy to commit to being sliced open and to be out of comission for 4-5 weeks.

You guys that have a conection to the Big Guy upstairs say a little prayer for me to get through this bump in the road so I can end up meeting and fishing with some of you "Characters".

So after I heal up I'll be headed back down to Kentucky  at the end of Jan. for work 'but more importantly some open water muskie fishing at Cave Run and Melton Hill TN.

Every one have  a Blessed Christmas Season,

Just got off the ice here in the land of Lincoln. Some nice crappie and a 3 pound largemouth to show for my bravery. There was barely enough in one cove of the lake I fished. The rest of the lake is open water.

I will say a prayer for you. Take care of yourself and your family during the Christmas Season. Heal up quick and get back down to Kentucky. I have a couple lures I made with your name on them.

I make a crap load of baits and have a crap load manufactured. Will be selling a crap load on eBay too. My goal is to sell 15,000 lures by musky opener 2008. That should keep me busy. Also designing a few new baits over this winter. Should be a fun winter for me. Just got an ice auger for $20 and got it running too. Will be nice to go out on some local lakes this year and ice fish. My 3yr old needs to go out a few times to get him up to speed!

I read a lot, snowboard, drink beer, showshoe, do bait mods, wait for the sport shows, go to college hockey games, cross country ski. If we have enough snow I can easily stay busy, when we don't it's pure torture.

Great time to sharpen/replace hooks, doctor lures, clean and lube reels. Ice fish and a little wood working from time to time. The only bad part about getting your lures and reels in prime condition is it just makes you want to get back out on the water even more.

Well, I brought my boat down to my house in AZ after my 2 LOTW trips this summer.

Going to be getting out on the lakes down here chasing a 10 lb largemouth.

Lake within 20 minutes of my house produces fish in the 10-12 lb range each year.

Having the patience to fish muskies will help me chase the BIG largemouth. You can keep the 3-5 lbers. I'm going after the fish of a lifetime.

Ice fishing, tearing down and rebuilding all my reels, replacing hooks, sharpening ALL the hook points of ALL the baits plus painting the fresh metal with a red perm marker, target shooting out the window with a pellet gun and inside the house with a CO2 BB pistol, reading, music, pool and kids.

Best wishes, Jerome!!!

Jerome,
I had open heart surgery for a valve repair over a year ago. Not the best thing I have ever had done, but not that bad either. All I can tell you is to take your time getting back from the procedure. When they tell you it will be 6 to 8 weeks till your
back, believe it, don't rush it. Use the breathing device as much as you can. Get a good Lazy Boy chair or a ton of pillows, as you cant sleep on your stomach or side for a good period.

Good Luck

Love cooking & fixing up the house in the winter. I'm giving a shot at baking pastries & cakes, but having some difficulties. Had to chuck the last batch of pastry dough. Too much butter & it just melted into a puck. Need to stay at it & get my moms recipies down pat before she's gone. At 74 she is still one of the best cooks on the planet & I have been fortunate to dine in some of the worlds best restaurants. She should have followed her passion & opened her own.

Homemade Pizzas tonight & the kids love to help. Watching a 4 year old spin the dough in the air with a smile on his face from ear to ear is priceless.. He's getting better at it & it keeps him busy.

Had to join the local YMCA so I don't get fat. Great idea & love playing basketball with my sons. What a great place for the whole family to get out of the house & run around. Fun to watch the wife on the tred mill too... I keep telling her to take off her sports bra & she keeps telling me I'm a perve... Nothing's changed!

The muskie off season is a great time to do some ice fishing, rabbit hunting, coyote hunting, spend way too much money at the shows, and do a few wood burning projects. The wood burning is kind of nice when its in the negatives outside and the fire inside is nice and warm!

Ice fishing has been fantastic this year but my ice time has been limited. Jason and I have been editing away and we're almost done with season 1. Sarah has had a lengthy to do list in our new house seeing that I was on the water everyday since we bought it. Almost done cleaning the basement. Boat will be in the water in 4 weeks.

What off season? Fish from March to December and inbetween work sports shows, do sponsorship items, book guide trips, basicly make sure that the ducks are in a row for the season so I can attempt to make 200 days on the water.

Outside of M1st stuff (shows, contests, chat season that I still need to set up), I'm actually excited to be playing volleyball again. I played in highschool, then a little in college and a ton out on the beach. Picked it up again about 4 years ago, hurt my leg really badly and finally forced myself to get back into it now (before I'm just too #*^@ old) and not worry about another injury. So, 3 league teams and Sunday morning open gyms, I'm a little IN to it again. BUT, I'm still 34 years old, still not in shape, and still 20+lbs from my "fighting weight". SO, I am again in the gym, lifting weights, riding the bike, skipping rope (I actually DO have the dexterity of a Ninja, just not at 240lbs) and trying to get back into running.

Why am I rambling? Sorry.

I fix stuff, ice fish, and surf the web till mid February. We go to Tennesse for two months from mid February till mid April. Great state! Nice folks and great fishing.

I was going to start this project last year and I finally started it last month, my first attempt to create a 58" muskie out of wood. Finally got the paint should start painting next week.

I prowl the muskie forums and get into senseless bickering contests over mostly irrelevant nonsensical details. Actually, there's been surprisingly few pi@#ing matches this winter...

Really...travel to basketball tourneys for my 10 y/o daughter, build some bucktails, rework others, sharpen hooks, build new leaders, ice fish up at the cabin, browse lake maps on my computer and write down waypoints and load them into my garmin, mostly do a bunch of stuff to improve my odds of boating fish come summer...I'm really tired of winter.
