| Question can you water log an 8 inch RH? If so do i rough up the paint? Drill a small hole? How long does it have to be in water? Anybody try this? Any info would be great.

the best reefhawgs are the ones that crack we all know that,,you can get the 6' ones to crack easy,,anybody know of a sure fire way to get the 8's to
anybody ever take a reefhawg put it end to end in a vise and slowly tighten it or is that $15.99 down the drain and a woodchip grenade in the face |

Location: north central wisconsin | Sometimes letting them soak in the water for awhile then putting them into the freezer can help crack the 8's. Weighting them works too. Drill a hole behind the front hook(thumb width back or more) and pound a 3/4 oz. barrel in that bad boy.

Throw them up on the rocks a few times and it'll get scuffed up enough... |

Location: Long Prairie, Minnesota | Treats is right. Just fish with them and abuse them while doing so. THey will crack and become water logged in no time at all! |

Location: nationwide | The livewell trick works for me. I have used this for reef hawgs, bobbies, suicks. cranes and any other wood lure I want to add weight to on a temporary basis. Usually done in the fall to get lures to run a little deeper.

Location: Black Creek, WI | A good buddy of mine "marinades" his Reef Hawgs. Keeps them stored in a pickle jar filled with fish scent. This gets them waterlogged AND offers the percieved benefit of scent.
I've have since banned the use of this "marinade" in my boat... considering that I had a gallon of the crap dumped on my rear casting deck. The licorice smelling concoction reacted with my carpet glue... and... well... made a big mess. I advise that you use this tip at your own risk  |

Location: Racine, Wi | Jlo, have him make a natural marinade. Here's my recipe.
Take 3 suckers.
Put them in a large container (live wells work very well!)
Toss in 2 reef hawgs, suicks, or bull dawgs (they hold the scent well)
Cover and cook on low heat for one week (a week consecutive of 90 degree days is prefered).
This will not only scent your baits, but ensure that you are the only one fishing the spots out there.  |
