I've been using jigs for over 20 years now...ever since Worrall turned me onto them back in 1985. They are a very versatile presentation. I like the Esox Cobra jig designed by Herbie and manufactured by Bait Rigs. It actually swims (concave bottom)...most of his jigs can be purchased with a leader, or without.

I've used everything from 18 lb. 7 strand, to 60 lb. 7 strand. As well, I like single wire at 35-50 lb., if I'm fishing the weeds. I think the 7 strand seems to give it more of a swimming action, and a it swims freely. No scientific data though. The single wire works great in the weeds, because it acts as a cutter.

I'm sure worral will bestow upon ALL of us his wisdom. He seems to be the Guru of Jigs...he and Gene Curtis were pioneers back in the early 80's!!

Just my 2 cents worth!

Gene simply used our jigs and creature body, cut off the tail and added a spinner. His design was a Paul Repka jig that Jimmy Cairnes and my Dad designed. I use 60# seven strand for muskie jigs, and 30# for the smaller stuff.

Steve,

Thanks for letting me know about your father and Jimmy. I didn't realize they'd spanned that far back!
