Some cool new baits from Savagegear. A company from Denmark that specializes in European pike among other species. Bringing some of their lures into the US musky/pike market. I tested several right at the end of our season and was very favorably impressed. Mostly cranks and jerks but also a very nice soft-plastic line too.

there's a number of interesting new baits coming out this year from Muskie Mojo that were being tested this summer.

stay tuned for a chance to win some of them here on MuskieFirst before they go on sale this winter...

The Hook'd Up Tyrant from Roberts/Justin Gaiche is pretty awesome too! Won't be out in time for the shows, but will be here in time for time for season. Lots and lots of fish will be caught on this thing.

I expect to see #11 and #13 blades and I bet they go for big money and will require an electric winch to reel in. Maybe in 09' we will see one of the reel mfgs offer an electric motor option?

Here's the new Okuma Red Isis. It is available with either a machined aluminum power handle or a carbon fiber double paddle handle. The paddle handle length has been adjusted 10 MM longer than our standard handles and the paddles themselves have been "supersized" as compared to the standard sizes Okuma produces. If you are looking for a paddle handle that has the feel of a power handle... this is one to look at.

EDIT... If you scroll to the bottom... there is one attachment that you have to click to open... it is the press release that gives all the information on the reel and shows a picture of the power handle.

read Dick's column in the new Esox Angler for a full explanation.
as he says, he's not "un-retired" but rather doing some speaking engagements as a means to help promote his "Operation Muskie" muskie fishing trip for veterans next summer. i know that our own Norm Wild is involved in helping with this project as well.
Dick's scheduled to speak along with Doug Johnson at the Chicago show.

I will be coming out with a new nine-inch injected plastic swimbait in a sucker shape. I expect the lures will be available on or about February 1, 2008 and I hope to get a fair number of them out to the shows. Here is picture of one in a natural sucker pattern. For those interested you can read more here: http://bikinibaitcompany.com/suckerswimbaitpatterns.htm

Hope you like it!

Reef Hawg - Yes... the Induron will still be made. This is a different price point.

Steve - I have your credit card on the top of the list. When ever my sales are down I just call you to talk product in order to get my gross dollar volumn up. You're going to need another Tuffy in-tow just to hold all of your gear.

Professional Edge is excited to come to show season with is a new custom built Edge Series blank that can be built from 7-6 to 9-6. Yes 9-6. It is light weight and full of power. The Edge Series can throw everything from a pounder to a lilly tail. A true one rod does everything stick. This is not a broom stick blank. Might be the number one seller this year for me.

I have a new 9-0 Diamondback custom also in all three actions coming along during show season. Same top notch quality as last years just longer. I built a 9 footer and sold all my 8 footers.

More to follow in the coming days.

How deep is the new stowmaster?

I actually got to put like the first 8 fish in that stowmaster Slamr has. The net diameter and depth of the bag is plenty deep enough. All I can say is wow, I had my doubts with it, but I am totally sold after using it this past fall. Also, if there is any doubts about not being big enough, well, I put Cowboyhannah's 50 inch fish in that net without a problem! That would be the fish on the home page of this site.

I would HIGHLY recommend this net! I was borrowing Steve Worrall's 1690 tiller this past fall because my Tuffy got sold for the year, and that net came in really handy because it saved so much space. I would definitely tell you to take a look at it, I don't think you would be disappointed! Highly recommend it.

yes,, I loved the 2 piece it is a dream to cast and hold and the two pieces makes it so you dont have to plan your turns like a semi driver when moving from truck to boat to resort,,gonna be hard for me now to buy any rod 8ft or over thats not 2 piece

I'm sure the biggggger bladed bucktails will be a big deal at the shows.

those Okuma's look nice but word of caution on that particular power handle..I had what looks to be just about the same power handle for a Penn 975 and that metal handle was hard to hold / grip when wet and was not very easy to hold in cold weather it got worse. thought about putting something sticky on it like some rod wrap tape and just got rid of it and went back to the stock penn power handle..much easier to hold onto...just my opinion on that type of metal / round handle. Look like a nice reel though and have been happy with the quality in my Convectors.

This thread is about new products at the 2008 Muskie shows, and not about rating them or complaining. I'm on the phone this morning with Stowmaster, and will have the owner there send you a PM as a courtesy to you both. Besides, you were comparing a completely different model to the new model.

Hi MuskyStalker,

Sorry to hear about a problem with your net. We did have a few that the crimper didn't compress the hinge enough. Sounds like like you got one.

All StowMaster's have a lifetime warranty, and we take it very seriously.

We would be happy to make your net right.

Looking forward to listening to Dick Pearson, coming out of retirement for a good cause "operation muskie" I hope he has the film clip of a BIG fish that follow a walk the dog bait, Pearson stops the bait and 18 seconds later the bait is slurped up by the fish and the water erupts. Can't Wait!

That explains everything, pretty much. Stop in at In Fish in Baxter and say hi to Julie and JK for me.

They will probably kick you out once you mention who sent you......

Hi MuskyStalker,

Sorry to hear about a problem with your net. We did have a few that the crimper didn't compress the hinge enough. Sounds like like you got one.

All StowMaster's have a lifetime warranty, and we take it very seriously.

We would be happy to make your net right.

Thank you Matt and Steve. Any time a manufacturer takes the time to personally make things right is the mark of a good company. Not many take the time to do that.

The jointed big foot won't be out this year, possibly 2009. Sounds like a liklihood of the Tyrant being introduced at Milwaukee....you'll love it.
