Daggone, that was a close call. Art's the mentor for my MI chapter, and Mauser and I got to fish with him last June when we were in Nort' Wis. Fact is, I think he was giving me a hard time about wearing my life vest in his boat.........

Glad he's safe. maybe a prayer or two would help him along. He's certainly a fine gentleman and a wonderful guide, one of the funniest people I everr shared the boat with. God bless him, m

Wow, there's a wake up call for everyone who fishes Muskies in the last few weeks of season up here. Glad he's OK!

scary close.

Though he made a serious mistake in not wearing his life jacket that day, he indicated Friday that no amount of embarrassment would prevent him from telling a story that might help somebody else do the right thing.

“I should have had it on. I could see the jacket sitting there in the boat, when I was hanging on, but it doesn’t do you any good then,” he said. “You can bet I’ll be wearing my life jacket from now on.”

Dang, Art is my buddy. I'll give him an extra hug when I see him again.

Good advice about wearing your life jacket.

Glad to see Art is OK...here is a funny Art story.

I was fishing the Spring Classic years ago, I was a last minute fill in due to an emergency cancellation. We were working up a shoreling on Catfish Lake and Art pulls up because he is good friends with my partner. They start chatting. Just then a mid 40 incher inhales my Reef Hawg and after two head shakes is gone.

I did the standard cussing and swearing routine that follows just about every fish that I loose and Art very calmy says "you know I've fished for these fish longer than you've been alive and swearing at them never helps!"

I had to laugh.
