My season is over. I had hoped to get out one more time, but my new job, deer hunting, and Turkey Day festivities will make last Saturday's outing on the LDF Chain my last for 2007. I did boat a chunky 32 incher on a Suick, so it was a nice way to end the season.

The season was filled with highs and lows for me. The biggest "high" was having a 3 fish day while fishing for the first time with MuskieMedic. I hope this wasn't the last time I fished with MM because it was a great day on the water...the fish were just a bonus.

The low point of the season was seeing my oldest son (13) go fishless again. For a 13 yr old, Mark does a hell of a job, and even some noted WI guides haven't been able to put him on a fish. He'll get his share in his lifetime I'm sure. I just hope that it's me in the boat with him while he does the majority of his fishing.

How was your year?

Best year I've had in a very long time. I'm in the woods for the next couple weeks, so fishing on the soft water may be over for me now too. Maybe a bit of Indiana angling early December...

If this was my last day Muskie fishing up here, it was a good one. Norm, Lambeau, and I fished Pelican, Norm put a nice one in the Frabill, and we braved a good Clipper based couple hours of snow.

Now for a few deer in the freezer and ICE!!

I am having a great year,26 muskies in the boat, 6 of them 40" or bigger. Not too bad considering I worked most weekends in the summer. I have lots of fishing left so I hope to add to the numbers.

Haven't caught one since 9/28. I threw in the towel on 10/26 after fishing the whole month and only having one strike (a small one on a suick). I caught 15 for the year, the 3 biggest were 36, 40, and 50.

As my first 'real' season I think I did very well. I only missed one weekend from the start to when I quit.

Had a VERY eh spring, spent the summer learning to fish salmons with Chuck and Joel, had a great trip to AML in the late summer, did well early fall.....and now....now I'm sucking wind, big time! But, it's not nearly over for this kid....if the freakishly mild weather keeps on like this, might be fishing til January! Come on global warming!!! Going to need some seriously positive mojo to make up for this awful fall.

Been my best year so far with 61 fish. I hope tuesday the doc clears me to go back to work so I can fish untill freezeup! Highs for me has to be my august vermillion trip when my 13 year old caught his 45.5" musky, my grandfather with his 32 and all the musky action besides that which he had and my 10 year old's 38.5" pike. Lows would have to be 3 broken trailer winches and I broke yet another rod my last trip out. My back feels good I have high hopes for tuesday.

Well, I'm hoping to fish as long as I can. I too have had my best year for sure. I actually think I have close to a 40 inch average, that to me is pretty cool. But the highlights for me were, at least 3 different guys personal best with me, including Pikopath(Micheal from Norway) with his first ever muskie, a legal one at that. I was proud to be the first guy to put him on his first ever fish. That was probably one of the best highlights if not the highlight of the year. However, after putting Cowboyhannah on his personal best, a 50 incher, and a personal best for my boat. That is pretty hard to beat. But if the extreme cold can hold off a few more weeks, I hope to have a crack at another good one. But I'm definitely going to fish till the end. I will regret it in January if I don't. However, hopefully a spring break trip to Indiana might be in the works. But good luck to everyone the rest of the season.

I had one of my best years this year with numbers and size of fish. For starters, I finally popped my first one on opener on Pewaukee. Probably caught more fish out of there this year than i ever have. Put 2 of my buddies on their first muskies trolling out there, one day we caught 7. Eagle Lake was the high point with me getting my personal best and me being filmed catching a 48.5 on the figure 8. Great year for sure

I've had a great year...although I consider them all great, just being able to fish is enough. I got to fish some awesome water with Sorno and I caught my first Tiger, as well as many more throughout the summer with him. I think I had a 27.5 inch average on Tigers....LOL!

I didnt get to fish true muskies until mid to late august and I've ended up with 9 or 10 fish, I'm not even sure what the number is, but I also got a new PB with tcbetka...a 50 incher, truly a special fish. Overall a great season, I'll be out this upcoming weekend and might try and get out Thanksgiving weekend so I still have some more time on the water.

Well...if I didn't get hooked into going to IKEA today by the friggin Mall of America, I would have been on the big pond or on Tonka today. WHAT a beautiful day today, and I'm sittin in a big blue box of a building looking at all that "stuff" that looks so generic you could get it at walmart for the same price and there would be things I could at least go and look at like tires or magazines.

Maybe...just maybe next weekend. The boat has been emptied, but not winterized, so it still could be quickly put back together for a day....or...if someone has an open seat I'd be willing to tag along and pay some of the "duties" as well.

So far, the year has been pretty bad for me. The whole summer was spent on the water, and I just could not seem to get fish to commit. Those that did were short "nippers" until the third week of September, when I managed to put 3 in the boat within 2 hours: a 34, 42 and a very fat 46. Went out one more time the last weekend of September, one hit and lost another at boatside when it decided to just open up its mouth and let go (I hate those the most...hit her hard and after all is said and done..no hooks and fish swimmin away...)

Here in MN, the deer hunting for me is pretty much up, although maybe a 2 - 3 day excursion over Thanksgiving weekend may happen. If warm enough, the boat will be along too. We'll see...

It would be pretty difficult for me to categorize this year as anything but the best ever. It's amazing what one fish can do to turn the tables on what was shaping up to be a rather mediocre year.
Scads and scads of sub-30" fish (in fact, I think I only had 10 that were 30" or bigger - out of about 45), fish that readily followed yet didn't commit, a couple of heartbreakers completely missing baits boatside, spending a few days on the water showing Pointerpride where the little fish hung out, a 14 fish day, a 10 fish day, an 8 fish day, then...the One. I had a great trip to Wisconsin and spent a week with some of the best people on the face of the earth at Presque Isle.
I ain't done yet. I won't have boating-preventable ice for another month or so. As long as the ramp stays open, I'll be using it. Come visit.

Looks like mid week next we will be frozen up here in the Northwoods. Lows in the single digits, and highs below freezing.

Looks like my only day off before the gun season is gonna be windy as heck. Looks like I'm winterizing the boat Wednesday. Now i feel like a little kid on his last day of summer camp.

I, Rob do pledge this, as my vision statement for next season,
"Never, EVER, take a knee in the Pursuit that
is your life! You only get one shot at anything,
and Fair Catches are for those who choose not
to Stand and Deliver, So do not pi$$ it all away!
GO HARD, or stay home!"

The best Season of my life hands down.

Got my personal best a 51"er, my step dad caught his biggest a 44.5" the same day. The very next day I lost a mid 50's... the biggest I've ever seen and it hit at boat side (AWSOME!). First fish ever night fishing also.

He later got his new personal best a 46"er, same day I managed a 46.5, and a 47"er (once again awsome). The next day my mom hooked a 41.5 at boatside and after the weekend we were having she said "aw I get the little one" haha I said well if you don't want him I'll fight him in the rest of the way!

My mother got her best this year a 42 (in Iowa to boot), and I was there to see my cousin catch his first (tiger), and a friend catch his first. Oh and I also got my first tiger this year as well. Wasn't our best numbers year but we ended with 29 fish in the boat many of which surpassed 40"es, three of which were tigers and all 5 that fished got either there biggest or first... I can't wait for next year!!!! In the mean time I have three reals that are trashed from throwing cowgirls.. have to get them fixed this winter.

I've been duck hunting since mid september and am up to 44 ducks and 5 geese, this year just couldn't get better

Caught my first Musky this year. Ended the season (probably) this week with a 45. Way, way better than I ever could have imagined. Incredible! I'm already working on some new lures for spring. Can't wait!

My season ended with a slight tap of the brakes as I meandered down a snow covered road less than 1/4 mile from the landing...the road went right and my rig went straight....off the road...jackknifing...slow motion...waiting for the loud sound of my boat wrapping around a tree as it fishtailed sideways behind me....

...good news...only small trees on this stretch...bad news....twisted the frame on my ranger trail....good news...nobody hurt....bad news....four nice suckers went to waste...good news...didn't need a tow truck....bad news...the twisted trailer tounge wrecked the rear of my truck....good news....that's what insurance is for....

Helluva way to end the season...I'd rather have spent the afternoon shivering above my suspended suckers...instead limped my rig to Heckel's and stopped off for a hot cuppa' joe..

Still a possibility here, i.e., either the Pete' or the WI River. 19 degree's this morning. Saturday I launched at the 10th st launch on the Pete', the south/south east winds made fishing limited w/ 2-3 foot rollers in the launch bay- the main lake was white caps. Water temps were 34.5- 35. Brrrrrrrrrr!

Today w/ west winds & moon set in a few hours, I might hit the lower west shore line for a last hoorah!

Have fun!
