I know, the weekend has barely begun and someone is starting a thread about this already? Yeah. My weekend began today and ended today, so I'll get things rolling early.
Caught this little bugger today with the old man at the net. Beautiful fall day, even soaked a couple small suckers to no avail. This was my first trip in 29 days. Never thought I'd be screaming for the net on such a small fish. This lake is part of Project Green Gene so I was more concerned about getting whatever data the fish had for the project. It was also my first muskie from this lake after many fruitless (no follows, one blowup in probably six trips to this lake) outings. Needless to say, it felt good. In fact, it felt so good I had to share the joy with our visitor!!!!

Good work Sean! A-Roz and I got out today using my buddies boat. After a breif shouting match with me vs. the outboard I finally got her running. Now I know this is out of the ordinary for me as I normally wear my waders and the only thing that can go wrong with those is to put a hole in them. So we start running up river to the spot I wanted to fish, moving along at a decent pace, then the motor just quits. Ok, maybe its just cold and not running well. So dig up a few obsceneties and yank on its string a few times and it starts back up. Alright cool, put it in gear, dead. Must have chosen the wrong 'choice words' sequence, so I tried a different combination....nope no luck, and we're about 50 yards from the spot I wanted to cast. Well I was sick of yankin that stupid string so I said screw it and took out my anger on two suckers and tossed them overboard and wished them a quick and violent death in the jaws of a musky. I think I heard both suckers laugh at me as I put them in the water. So we drift a ways down the river with no luck, A-Roz and I casting a bit. Then A-Roz gets stuck on some gigantic underwater tree. We get the bait unhooked from the tree. After doing this I noticed the gas line from the motor hanging off of the tank...hmm, this must have been the problem earlier. Easy fix, so I clip it back into the tank and the ball on the gas line hardens right up with a few squeezes. I pull that string again and she starts right up. Cool, I throw it in gear and we are off the spot I want to cast. Halfway there the motor quits again. ARGH! So I hand A-Roz the gas tank and tell him to hold the hose in place as now the hose doesnt want to reconnect to the gas tank. I turn the boat around and we head back toward the launch, once I got the motor going. With this arrangement we seem to have no problem running from where we started all the way back to the launch...go figure. So we get to the launch and I beach the boat next to the launch. Since it is my buddies boat and it will likely not see action anymore this year, especially with todays performance, I decided to unclip the gas line from the motor and run the gas out of the motor. After all the fuss that dang motor put up trying to get to the spot I wanted to cast one would think unhooking the gas line would cause it to just quit instantly. One couldnt be more wrong! With gas line unhooked that little devil ran for a good couple of minutes! I couldnt believe it. So we loaded the stupid thing up and went to a shore spots. No luck there. Tomorrow I go back to the equipment of mine that works. Waders! Hopefully the dont have a leak, although the way the weekend is going I'm not going to be surprised......

It snowed to beat all this evening on Pelican. Lambeau and Norm picked me up about 1 PM. The fish only moved for us for a couple minutes, resulting in a nice Wabull Muskie for Norm. We got excellent footage of the strike, the battle, lambeau's stellar net job, and then....the snow came.
Hunting tomorrow night after gathering another load of wood for Darth's Outhouse.

Paul,
Nice fish. Doesn't look like it was the one you had follow the other day. My friend got a 33" tiger and a 46" Friday night and today we only managed one just under 34" trolling through the weeds. Should get the pics on tomorow night hopefully, but for now I need to get to bed so I can get out in the morning and get myself one.
Paul, let me know if you want to go out anytime this week....not sure what my schedule looks like.

Made it out on the river Friday, Saturday, and for a few hours on Sunday. Had some battery issues friday morning which delayed my start. Ended up with a 40 and 41 on friday and a 34 on saturday. Didnt see anything on Sunday, but it was nice to be out and listen to the game. I was really hoping to duplicate or beat the fish we had in the boat the week before (48x23) but came up short.

Got out on the river this weekend and thought I would give circle hooks a try. The one spot on the river I fish is about 50 yards across with 15 yards of sand flat about 4 feet deep surrounding it. The center part of the hole is 25 feet deep. It's impossible to cast a sucker with a quick strike rig out far enough as the sucker always flies off. Had two hits on the circle hooks but both times I reeled up and only got a chewed up sucker back. I was so nervous about gut hooking the fish that I got antsy and started retrieving too soon. I bought a small jon boat and next year will row out to the center.
Gave up on the circle hooks and got a 34" fish but that was it.

Awesome fish J! I got out for a few hours yesterday, raised one fish on a sucker while doing a weed check.. Had a couple other suspicious sucker activities but nothing in the net.

I didn't get out this weekend due to family obligations but did manage three fish on Thursday and one on Friday. On Thursday I had a 41 in the net and as I was setting up my camera, my other rod went off. So I let the 41 go and got a 39. Two fish within three minutes while fishing solo. Thursday's fish were all caught on suckers and on Friday the fish fell to one of my double 10's.

Not much fishing for me. I've been hunting hard. Had a weird thing in Buffalo Co., shot an 8pointer, got a pass through and never found it. Another guy shot it 10 days later. Entry and exit looked like they were high in lungs, very strange. Just got back from Montana, had an awesome time filming for Hook'd Up. We all tagged bucks, a trout, a pheasant and a duck.

Fished half an hour Friday Afternoon and got a 39 1/2. Saturday I had one little follow and Sunday I got my Biggest Pike ever, a 41 incher that creamed a sucker. I got both fish in front of our house so I brought them in for a quick Picture. Both fish were released unharmed.

P is for Perka!
I started tossing a Suick, but it just wasn't working the way I wanted. Reached for the stash of Perkas I bought from Beav late last year, and I was very pleased with results. Perka in the key of "H"-- three in the net, many follows, and only toward the end of the outing did the suckers get eaten instead of the artificial. Thanks Beav.

I had the opportunity to fish some water down in Indiana with a super guy, John Bette from Stealth Tackle. We ended up with one 42.5 fish on Saturday that I had the privledge of netting for John. Thanks again John for sharing your boat for the weekend with a total stranger. I had an awesome time and hope to get the chance to share a boat with you again.
