Location: The desert | Well I got my boss Brian from Cousins Subs out on the water this friday. We hit a little local lake to fish with suckers. He enjoys fishing but has never caught anything remotely close to the size of even a small musky. So I told him last year that I would get him on a musky. Well plans got set aside when he needed to have emergency triple bypass surgery. When I got back to work this fall I told him we needed to get out on the water. I took him to the river one evening, we saw a few fish jumping in the current but no takers that night.
So we got to the lake Friday afternoon and dropped the boat in....after which we realized we didnt have the plug in. After filling up the boat with a little water we were off. The wind was blowing pretty good so I decided to head out of the wind a bit and slowly drift with our suckers. Once there I had Brian keep the boat in the general area I wanted to start while I rigged up the first sucker. Tossed it overboard and then went to work rigging up the next one. While I was rigging that one up I happened to glance over at the sucker in the water and noticed a musky with its jaws wrapped around it. I dropped the other sucker and grabbed the rod quick, clamped down the drag and handed the rod to Brian and said hit it she's yours! He was a little aprehensive but took it and set the hook and it was on! I grabbed the net and after a quick fight I slid the net under it and his first musky was landed. I'm not sure who was more excited, him or me. Snapped a few quick pictures, put a tape on it and off it went. Was a great day on the water.....not sure if I have him hooked on musky fishing, but I planted the seed at least!

Location: sauk rapids, mn | Isn't it the best feeling in the world to see someone catch their first muskie? Good fish, he will be back. That smile says he is hooked! Clint |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I bow hunted tonight too...was quiet enough for both bucks to bust me on the draw, and had my choice of either. Oh well, there's always tomorrow! Up to a foot of snow in the UP tomorrow, I hear. |
