PACEMAKER every time.
A blast to fish, produces decenlty well.

Location: Hayward, WI | For my typical style of fishing, I would probably pick a single blade Rad Dog spinnerbait. Probably black/flame.
If I had to pick one bait that could fish nearly all year, any depth, fast or slow, I would probably pick something like an 8" Jake. Can be twitched just under the surface, ripped, cranked, or trolled. Medium sized bait that would produce all year long. Lots of guys would probably substitute a Dawg for that, but you couldn't speed troll with it as easily. Also, good luck with a soft plastic lasting for one year if you really only got ONE of them.

Go big or stay home.
Work it high, just sub-surface, or left it wobble on down a few feet.
I'd fish it, because as little as I get to fish, I'm going to target big fish.

Hard to choose...has to be something I can fish in most conditions which rules out topwater...and something that I can troll in the fall...but I can't cast those big believers without them getting all tangled up..so I suppose..ugh..I hate bucktails...but it'd probably be one. To break it down seasonally it would be, bucktail, suick, believer. |

Location: Black Creek, WI | I think the most consistent producer from ice-out to ice-up would be a crankbait such as the TripleD.... but I'd have to go with a LongTale Spinnerbait... probably a Big Shot.... for the most productive lure overall. Rack up the numbers in spring/summer/early fall and then slow roll or jig it in late fall for a few more bigguns.
I always love these "one lure" questions as it makes you really think. However, it also makes your realize that there is a time to optimize and a time to compromise. Choosing one lure for all applications is definitely a compromise. |

Location: Ogden, Ut | It really depends on where I would be fishing. If fishing locally, I could literally fish all year quite effectively with a J-13 Rapala. For spring in the weeds (flooded willows) it's buoyancy would keep it relatively weedless, it can be trolled, twitched, ripped and retrieved straight. Heck, I could even put it behind a downrigger ball and get plenty of depth out of the presentation. It even produces a nice fish on occasion...
S.
If I were expanding the breadth of locations to include all waters that I may fish, I'd go with a jig. |

The only lure I'd not get sick of fishing with would be a topwater.
I'd rather catch one topwater fish then 5 any other way.
Water Chopper would probably be my first choice.

| After reading through all three pages of posts you would think that one lure would be a standout a little more than the rest, but none seem to. Well, I guess it seems a lot of people have picked Bull Dawgs which suprises me a little. Wouldn't they be all tore up after a few fish?
Am really suprised more people ain't saying some kind of bucktail.
This is a tough question, for versatillity I'd have to say a jointed 8" believer in firetiger, but I don't think a lure like that could keep my interest all year long so I'll go with a lure I like to fish,Super Top-Raider blck/orange tail.

| One lure?? Impossible! ERRONEOUS!!!!
Shallow Invader. Troll it, straight crank it, twitch it, rip it, flop it around some slop. Close second would be a Hoodini (zig zag topwater), but for whatever reason I can't seem to find too many fish in Illinois to chase down topwater on a "consistent" basis. |

Try a weighted suick in the weeds. Look for pockets! |
