Hey all,
My friend and I are heading up to Mille Lacs this weekend to fish for muskie. This is our first time fall muskie fishing. Would anyone be so kind to offer any advice? Like what lures are most effective and which type of structure produces the highest numbers. What type of presentation works? Does water temperature have much affect?
Thank you so much for any advice you can/will offer.

We fished the rocks Fri-Sat and did not even see a fish so your guess is as good as mine. I would also try the shallow weed lines as well. Good luck

You said rocks, I take it you were on the south end. How deep were you?

Fished the rocks Last Friday along with every other boat on the lake.
Everyone was pitch'n dawgs so I went with grannies and big jerkbaits
Weather was flat calm and sunny 55 degrees with warming waters. 47 warmed to 51
Fished all the way to the N end to fish what ever weeds were left and caught an 11 pound pike. Did not even see a musky

Do you think using something different than the norm would improve my chances or is it better to use what has been proven as a producer? (Bulldawgs/cowgirls)

That there is some good advice. Be funny if this guy did buy that bait and got a 58X29.

I'd say throw big bucktail style lures. Try the DC9, good lure that's been hot lately. Big cranks can be good there too. Try working some of the reefs this time of year too.

I love the Gopher ad!

Throw a mag or pounder bulldawg in a cisco, walleye, or sucker pattern. There's a reason everyone throws them this time of year, just like there's a reason everyone throws cowgirls in the summer.

Is this a video that simply shows off big muskies or does it actually provide good information about presentations, lure selection, structure..etc.?

It's a video where you can watch a couple of well to do guys catch fish. As far as valuable info goes I didn't see much. Kind of like some of the hunting videos where in the end you say.......That's it? We actually took it back for a refund. Oh the other thing that got old was having to hear them on each fish trying to guess the length. It's a 51 no it's a 50, no it's a 55,no that's a 54 fish. No it's a 53, no it's a 52. Anyway after hearing this on every fish 6 times each the we hit the mute button.

Haha well said.
Thanks for the advice. I've purchased 2 other videos and their help has been limitted. Id rather pay 20 bucks for a lure and a leader.

Cisco color has been effective. The triple D and Deep diving slammer moved a few.
