Location: Eau Claire, WI | anybody have an opinion whether or not a 150 opti on a 692 is not enough power?
I've heard that 150 is plenty motor for that boat but would like to hear some discussion from those in the know.
Thanks,
Jono

Location: Contrarian Island | jono, should be for sure..I talked to the owner of a very nice 2000,, 690 in MN this summer that had a 150 opti and his hit 52-53...I'm told the 150 is the same powerhead as the 175
they are great rigs...buy it and swap out that motor for a 175 suzi and you'll be rockin for yearrrrs!

| Save the money, keep the Opti, and you'll still be good for years.
Seriously, the boat is rated up to 175 HP. I think that motor will be fine on that boat. The 150 Opti is a strong performer, and is very easy on fuel and oil. You'll be happy with it. |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | I've heard that '97 150s had problems. Do guys know anything about that? Will they troll down OK too or would I need to consider a kicker?
Shep, check your PM, I sent you a message there about something else. |

Location: Eau Claire, WI | not sure now if this 150 is EFI or Opti, would that be a major difference? i.e. one was rock solid while the other was not, etc. thanks again. |

| A 97? Pobably an EFI, but I can't be sure. Never heard anything bad about the 150 Opti's since they came out. Not sure how many were available in 97. I thought 98 was the real intro year. The EFI's were solid, but use more gas than the Opti's. |

Location: Sheboygan Falls, WI | I too would go with a Suzuki. It is a quiet rice burning fool. It will troll down great for you as well.
Pick Brad's brain and MuskyTime's (Ed's) brain on the Suzuki in the size you are looking at. I know these two guys have recently purchased them and don't believe they would go with anything else. Ask Ed how much he saved on gas on LOTW this year. Ask them both if they thought their gas gauges were broken when they first started running them.
You would NOT be disapointed in the Suzuki Jon.

Location: Contrarian Island | I should have kept track of my gas bills for the year but I'm guessing it was about 1/2...I can go a few trips on 15 dollars of gas ..but with the EFI I had to put gas in seemingly all the time... |
