I was due for a tough trip or two. I had a streak with a fish in the boat every time on the water but one for several weeks, most on topwater and all but one over 40". Yes, I lost and missed fish, but had others willing to step up. This weekend, I lost two that were very good fish, and missed two more on Wabulls and Weagles, my favorite zig zag surface to just subsurface lures. One tried twice to eat a Wabull Saturday, and the lure was SITTING STILL when she made her attempt. I nearly had an attack. The second was Sunday morning early, on a Weagle. I may have hit that fish just a shade early, but the line went tight, there was weight there, so...
The Saturday fish was a pig.
I missed two others that were average, as well. Thank goodness Slamr was around with his Ninja like 'moves' to boat a suicidal 40 on a sucker Saturday. Sunday, the muskies looked at the suckers, but just moved on.
Watch the lower left of the video after one misses me, it swings over and makes a pass at Slamr's Perka.

Ahh, that's what makes you go out the next day. Err...that's what someone once said. I told him he's nuts and I'd be there even if I hadn't seen a fish.
Welcome to my past three trips. When I fished with Kbob, I missed two solid hookups. The next day, same thing, I couldn't hookup at all.

I'm not due for a rough trip, it's been way too long since I boated a nice musky. In Sept I was slowly retreiving a Pacemaker over a steep weed break, had a nice musky come out & take the lure under... I pulled the bait out of the fishes mouth... the fish hit the bait again, this time harder & I saw the fish turn away this time so I set the hooks again... pulled the bait out of the fishes mouth. This actually seemed to make the musky mad. I went into a figure 8 with the Pacemaker under water & the fish was slashing around underneath the lure & nipped at it three times in the figure 8, but I still couldn't get hooked up. Pretty frustrating when you have a fish that charged up & still manage to botch the hookset again & again.

I'm heading back to PI today for round three with Rosanne Bar! The fat piggie I lost 12 days ago will be highly irritated by me.....I will not sleep until she's in my net because the haunting must stop.
Hey, where did you get that head cam...pretty slick stuff

She was a no-show, only saw one and that was a 35 or so. Pretty quiet on the lake tonight, but well worth the two hours on the water. Pelican and big walleyes is next on the docket, right after the PI Outing!

Has anyone ever mentioned, just in passing, that they might just be envious of you?
(Though, I'm not sure I'd want all the other stuff to go along with it.)

Envious? No, not really...looks like a great weekend. Have to work an In Store Saturday in Fond Du Lac at Mr. Marine, then Sunday back after that Wabull lovin' hog.
