Location: mankato, mn | Hey everybody!
I just want to start out by thanking everyone on M1 for all the knowledge i've gained since joining the board. I've worked my rear-end off all summer long in iowa trying to get a musky or two with no payoff. I'd finally had enough of it and planned a trip up to a central mn lake which i just got back from tonight. I couldn't have dreamed it any better! Got there friday afternoon. Got a 42" at 3pm and a 38" at 5pm, both on grandma's. Didn't see anything sat during the day...bright and sunny all day, yuck. Around 6:30 switched over to a showgirl and had 3 follows in a half-hour!!! The biggest followed around about a dozen times before losing interest. Came back to the fish at about 7pm, same showgirl, switched color. She came in on the first cast to the spot and inhaled it on the second turn of the 8!!! Freakin' amazing to see in crystal clear water! Tugged my 14' lund around like nothing. Measured 44". Helluva weekend for an iowa boy. First fish on an 8 i've caught and my personal best. Caught all fish on the same weedline, last green stuff in the lake. All fish swam away healthy and shared it all with my cousin and uncle. Here's pics of the 38" and the 44". Couldn't get any descent shots of the 42" because i was by myself...wow is that a challenge. enjoy.

Location: Waukesha & Land O Lakes, WI | Fished most of the day Saturday up in Land O Lakes. Water levels are way up, 4" of rain in the last week, and water temps hoovering around 62 on saturday, 64 sunday. Boated a 41-43 that was released from the net. Bait? MUSKY TREAT on the f-8. 5th time around.
For the site seers....sorry, the leaves are history, no more pretty colors.
We stopped into Skyview on Saturday night, the Bob Ellis was just ending their dinner. 2 fish won it, a 37+ and a 40+ I believe. Got a chance to meet a fishing icon, Bill Gardner. Super nice guy. Believe it or not, he pops in here from time to time. |

Location: Hayward, WI | Great Job! I don't know much about Iowa musky fishing, but sometimes a change in lakes can make a big difference. If you are fishing low numbers water it can get discouraging at times. Then you fish a lake with a decent population and you realize you do actually know something!
Nice job on the figure 8 fish too. Been fishing muskies for two years now. Have had 27 hit the net in two years and none of them on the 8 yet.

| Hey!! Nice job!! I was just on that central mn lake yesterday. Where you are is one of my favorite spots on the lake. Now I know why we only had follows. Their mouths were to sore from the weekend! If you want to come back and fish with a partner, I would be happy to show you some of the other hot spots. Just let me know. [email protected] Nice fish! Clint |
