Location: WI | I got one this morning that was either 49.5 or 50!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Unfortunatly I was alone and my camera was buried in the rod locker so I didn't get a picture...
Total chaos...I was trolling and I stopped to do a weed check, took one or two cranks of the reel and it hit. I got it hooked to the outside rim of the net and tried a few times to do the reverse-net trick I've read about and I finally got it! Super strong release which I feel really good about.
My 15th fish of the season. Previous PB was a 40 incher that I got 2 weeks ago.
Jtd 10 inch firetiger Believer was the bait.
Drinks are on me!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ha! Just bought a powerball ticket since my luck is on today. |

I wish you would have gotten a picture just because I'd like to see it; you'll see the fish and relive the catch in your head forever though! Fishing solo is always good for an adventure or two.

| Congratulations!! Sounds like the kind of catch where you have to sit down afterwards.
Would have liked to have seen a pic, but probably not as bad as you. The good news is that not only did you catch her, but you now know where she lives, and you can go back and get her next year when she's 51"

Location: WI | I couldn't stop shaking for at least an hour after it! Man, I wish I could have got a pic...arrgh... noone will ever believer me! All I have is a lure with some scratches, and some scales that I found on the net. I couldn't believe my eyes when it surfaced and swam around the back of the boat, what an unreal experience!
I guess my fishing every weekend for the whole summer finally paid off! |

| Congrat's on the PB!!!!!!!
NOW...get yourself a tri-pod and put some small marks on the floor (or deck) of your boat for correct placement. I am soooooooooooo happy I did that, as I too got a 51 earlier this month solo and got a "fairly good" photo of here.

Location: oswego, il | Congrats on the fish! Netting them alone can be alot of fun. I generally don't take many pics when alone but my biggest so far this year I caught fishing alone. I just did a quick eyeball and seen 44 but when I looked at the pic at full size, the nose is at 1" and the tail goes past past 45. I got my camera out, turned it on set her on the bump board and got a quick pic. Caught in june.

Location: WI | i think i'll be picking up a nice bump board at the musky expo this winter. seems like it's a lot faster way to measure them. |

Location: Minneapolis, MN | A fast way to measure is the 60" Musky Measure (basically a floating ruler/pole). You can measure your fish in the net or while you're reviving it in the water. Its a lot easier on the fish because you can keep the fish in the water longer. Also works good when fishin solo. |

Location: WI | That's what I measured it with. It was too big to measure in the net (I have a big Beckman). The last time I tried to measure one in the water it took off and sprayed me with a flick of its tail. This fish was still pretty hot when I netted it and it took off as soon as I put it back it...it was only out of the water for maybe 20 seconds tops, if that. |

there's a few people around here who are right there with you. i know at least myself and johnnysled have big fish that were released without a proper photo session; i'm sure there's some more out there with similar experiences.
however, you've got a lot more left than just a lure and some scales!
you don't have to "prove" anything to anyone with the picture because we do believe you. (heck, people who do have pictures lie about/with them anyway).
pictures are fun, but you've got the feelings from it and the memories. enjoy!

Just need to do like Lambeau did last year when he didn't have a camera on his PB...he went out this year and caught another pig....and DID get a pic of that one.
But, you will ALWAYS have your minds eye shot!!!

| Very cool man, after reading your story i was vividly able to recall one of my own.Late june this year i was fishing alone and had a big girl eat a shallow invader way out at the end of a down wind cast,as soon as i set into her i knew imediatly she was real good and had the time and line out to get the net handy close to the release gear. After fighting her back to the boat it took three attempts to net her solo. While fighting this fish i didnt relize i had attracted an aduience of a father and his children out for a pleasure boat,as soon as i net the fish i pump my fist and am startled to hear YA MAN way to go.I look over my shoulder and this father is giving me the thumbs up it was really cool,he asks me to hold it up after i had removed the hooks so i do to all the oos and aws and his little girl cutely says daddy i dont want to swim in this lake anymore,it was totaly priceless. No picture,no measurements take but would estimate 49 to 51 inches fairly skinny though as it was still june but it was an real rush doing everything solo.Reading your solo adventure brought back a really memorable day for me,thanks for sharing and congratulations on a fine catch. |
