As we all have heard Moens Chain is as low as its ever been. Well last night after I got the boat off the trailer and the trailer parked I got stuck in the sand surrounding the landing. Had to get out and rock it so it moved and hand load it onto the trailer.

Just a warning to the Hodag fisherman that time at the landing could be a major issue this year if one guy gets hung up and blocks the landing. I would imagine the channels are really shallow too. One homeowner told me he is 16" low on his dock.

Launched on Moens today and also got stuck on sand around landing. Went across to channel and wasn't able to even get close, got stuck and had to turn around.

Talked to creel surveyor as he came from channel and he had to get out and push his aluminum boat through (14 or 16ft aluminum boat /tiller) to get from 2nd to first.

Hey guys just talked to John, sounds like they have a plan for those planning on fishing Moens.

They received permission to use the landing at the old 2 ½ bait and tackle. That means if you plan to fish 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th you can launch there and fish those lakes. The channel from 3rd to 4th is shallow but navigable, from what they have been told.

It will work just like the other multi lake families. If you want to go from Moens to 2nd and your boat wont float that shallow channel, you can check out at the landing pull the boat and head to the landing on 2 ½.

Not the best situation, but we have to deal with what mother nature has dealt us I guess..

If you are familiar with Moens this landing is a little ways past Birchwood Resort which lies on the issmass between Moens Lake and Third Lake. Birchwood is now a condo resort and doesn’t want anything to do with the tourney. When pulling into the old 2 ½ bait and tackle it looks like you are pulling into a private residence, which it is now. Hopefully they will have is signed well.

Checkout the attachment for a approximate map, showing the locatioin of 2 1/2 landing.

Good Luck.

Mike

the landing at the bait shop at 2 1/2 is STEEP! definately will give your tranny (and brakes) a work-out.
