Thorne Brothers had been carrying a short shank version of the Eagle Claw 774 but have now discontinued it. Was this a custom hook for Thornes???

Does anyone have any Eagle Claw 964 in 5/0 size they want to part with? Are there any other retailers out there selling them?

Please help if you can. I really like these hooks on my crankbaits.... and crankbait season is almost in full swing. Thanks.

Mustad has a short shank round bend inline treble. I can't remember the number of it right now, but it's what I started using after I couldn't get the 964 any more.

Thanks for the insight.

I had used the Mustad Round Bends for a long long long time and when I found the Eagle Claw 964's the filled a niche the Mustad's couldn't.

Am I just out of luck?

The nice folks at Shorty's sent a sample of the Eagle Claw 954's 3x short shank round bend trebles size up to 4/O.I know its not a 5/O but it has a #*^@ big gap in the 4/O s.
I havent seen the 964 s before so I cant compare.

Does Shorty's sell retail? Got a contact?

I'd like to check out these 954 short shanks. Thanks for the tip.

Well... I checked out shorty's (wholesale) and ended up at Captain Hooks (retail).

I can't find the Eagle Claw 954's in North America.

Does anyone have any experience with the EXTRA SHORT SHANK VMC's? The VMC hooks are usually too "heavy and bulky" for my liking... but a short shank might work.... however I'm too cheap to buy 100 of them to find out I don't like them. Anyone have some input on these hooks? Is there anywhere I can buy a smaller quantity (25) so I can check them out without too large of an investment?

I don't think that VMC does an X short in anything other than the 6x heavy, at least not in 5/0.

FYI.... the Eagle Claw 954's are not discontinued... just hard to get. Thorne's still carries them... you just gotta be patient. VERY patient.

Still interested in feedback on other hook options though.
