Ha Muskie guys giving pointers. Here it seams everyone is willing to share their catch but not how they got it. With the pmt in Madison I doubt your going to see any advice on this board this week. If I knew any advice I'd help you. And the little I know I am happy to help with. The Madison chain has three lakes with fishable populations of muskies; Waubesa, Monona, and Wingra. Which one is better in the fall? Your guess is as good as mine. Wingra is small and a pretty easy lake to fish. The whole thing could probably be done in two hours or less. Manona has a few rock piles/reefs that look good but I personally haven't fished them. This lake would probably take some time to learn as it is relatively large. Waubesa has a relatively large 15-20 foot flat that holds a lot of suspended pan fish. There are also good break lines and fish cribs in this lake. My best advice to you is to get a couple hot spots maps. Wingra/Waubesa is one map and the other is Monona. Then use your musky fishing knowledge to pick out the spots that look like "good" spots. If there is such a thing? Good luck.

Fishing wingra in 2 hours ha try like 5 or 6 if you really want to hit it. Waubesa and Monona are great fall lakes Fishing weeds or trolling is how you get it done out there. They are just like any place else that you probably fish, one day your a hero the next a zero. Gotta put your time in.

Fish the weeds and the rocks. Don't forget the humps, the flats, the cribs, and the drop offs...

Actually Brad, I have moved quite a few fish on gliders on Monona when nothing else was working...
Turning them into biters? Well, that involves some degree of skill and a decent figure 8!

moving fish on gliders in Madison is not the problem...how many fish get CAUGHT on gliders for the number of hours they are in the water....hence why I only throw gliders as a last resort to locate some fish....then put on a bait I know they will hit...

catching fish and moving fish are 2 different things

Fished the Madison Sunday, the No wake was still in affect, water temps 75 degrees, I'm sure it has dropped since then, seen lots of current running thru Waubesa and Mud lake. We hooked into three and seen a few, nothing in the boat. marked lots of larger hooks in deep water. The top water bite wasn't there that day.

Good Luck with the PMTT

Jerome, at least on the Yahara chain, gliders seem to be the one bait that will always get a fish to show themselves. I've probably had at least two dozen fish follow on gliders (especially on Monona) that were the only fish we saw all day long.

If seeing fish and not catching them is your thing? Well than throw gliders! Some lakes have a great glider bite, don;t get me wrong here. The Yahara chain just isn't on the list.

The no wake ban has been relaxed to 500' within shore with the exception of sqauw bay in monona which remains no wake.

I think all of upper mud is no-wake thru sqwaw bay. Signs are post on the waubesa side pillars of the RR trestle.........

After you get through the trestle you can go fast through the mud lake part of the river channel, until you get near gilligan's island where it is marked slow no wake. From there it would be no wake until you are out of squaw bay.

The "Mud Lake" part of the river channel is not 500 ft from a shoreline....Could still be a pinch from the sheriff's boat. Doesn't matter to me but be aware of it.

Mud lake is not under the 500' rule...only Waubesa and Monona. Mendota, Kegonsa and the Mud lakes are under normal rules, 200' from shore.
