Girth measurement

This is NOT in reference to the 55 x 26 caught last week, that is a fat fish and what a 26" girth fish should look like..

I am wondering if my girth tape is not calibrated correctly, or if everyone else just takes really bad pictures and makes fish look skinny, but it sure does seem that alot of fish on many internet sites are claiming claiming these big girths.. Some guy on another site claimed a 46" x 26" fish, and he posted the pictures and the fish did not look like a oversized panfish, lol... I am all for people catching big fish, and I fish Mille Lacs about 4 days per week, where the fish are fat, but not every fish has a 25" girth or bigger... Am I the only one who has noticed this trend of making fish fatter than they really are???

it is comical....I honestly think some people who are claiming huge girths on what appear to be very avg girthed fish are just "guestimating" based on other pics of other inflated girths on the net...
anyone who has actually girthed some 21+ inch fish knows a phony when they see em....anything starting at about 21-22 + depending on the length of the fish is FAT and no matter how bad the pic is a 23+ girthed fish is pretty easy to see in pics....guys are just not taking the time to do it right or aren't doing it at all and just guessing....the newest trend..yah, i got a 48 x 26, yah sure you did....

I still have yet to girth a fish....I believe they are either fat, skinny or somewhere inbetween.

But I do laugh at some of the girth measurements for sure....

Everybody wants a 24-27 inch girth fish....yet very few actually catch them.

Lots of 50" 40# fish around the last couple years. Me thinks these dumb fish are not exercising enough or are just plain overeating.High calorie/high carb diet. Check the girth of an average fish after it eats a loon, duck etc. .Kinda bulges in the belly. They're ALL fat.No, make that Fat with a PH! LOL. Steve

Last year all the 50" fish where 40#'s, now the 46" fish are becoming 40#'s, must have something to do with the low water...

I tried to calibrate my girth tape around my waist and it measured my waist at 34", I must have bought my tape from the same place as others, because I know my waist is really 24".....

IA,
Awsome fish, don't think anyone would question that fish... I sure would not consider that fish the norm, that is just a flat out pig...
