| Looking to try deep cranking timber this fall and wanted to see if folks have preferences for certain crankbaits that fit this bill. I played around with different lip designed baits this weekend and found the "diamond" (DRaiders, etc) bounced off wood infinitely better than their round-billed brethren, although the highly buoyant Slammers faired well in the timber despite having round lip designs.
Also, by deep cranking I'm talking baits that might be able to reach 12-15' (if there are such without having to troll them) casted. |

Location: Northern Wisc. | Ernies and Depthraiders......Baits that will back up when you stop reeling....All you have to do is figure out if you have a snag and just stop reeling or if you have a Log and set the hook........sometimes you win and sometimes you'll lose......Love fishing stumps..... |

| Love the Crane Deep Divers for that, Fish em alot early fall at Cave Run - They do bounce well off of the firewood with their square lip, but prolly don't go deeper on the cast than about 10' or 12' due to the bouyancy of the wood - but then again, that does help back it out of trouble, or into it! |

| I use Draiders, Jammers and Ernies. I've also found that downsizing the hooks by one size works really well with the Jammers, and doesn't mess with hookups. |

Like I told my partner this weekend, "$%^ it dude, hooksets are free." Minutes later after banging wood and hanging up for the previous 7 hours we're both looking at a nice 42" in da net |
