Some folks say High is good..others say bad...same with Low water.

Please explain to me what you think these level changes do to the fish and what level you prefer?

High water/clear..fish the "new structure"....low water seems to send them toward structure near channels, humps roadbeds etc. in deeper water w/ the exception of low light periods...as long as i can fish either is ok...w/out the MUD![:sun:]

I'm not sure what it does to the fish other than give them new structure to lay in. I was sittin on in Tony Grants seminar in milwaukee and he talked about how when Cave Run Lake flooded it would actually go over parking lots and they would fish the parking lots as new flats and the picnic tables as structure. [:praise:] So if you see a flooded parking lots w/ picnic tables make sure to fish it ... lol But seriously you should keep eye out for new structure and new flats.

I love high, clear water. I think fish are active under those conditions, especially in a river. Low water in a river will scatter fish and in a lake can drive them from the shallows.

I love normal pool on rivers and impoundments. If the water is very high, I usually look for what SPonge described. If it is very low, I go tto the creek or river channels, and secondary breaks.[:sun:]

When the water is high the fish are in the trees.

It seems that hight water gives muskies that much more area to roam.

Low water should be easyer to fish as it equals to less overall area or less spots for them to hang out at but it also takes away a lot of the spawning areas. High water in the other hand is the opposite, it offers all kind of new areas to fish be it roadbeds or picnic tables but most of all high water normaly means dirty water and floating debris making harder to catch fish.

I am lucky enough to fish a river system controlled by damns and the fluctuation is controlled to minor changes and means I fish regular pool most of the time but we never get a big change from one day to the next.

So my prefference is for normal pool but would prefer to fihs low waters then high ones. [:sun:]

My cold water preference is low and clear if I can't have low and slightly murky.

My moderate water temperature preference is low and clear if I can't have low and slightly murky.

My warm water preference is whatever conditions I face on lake X in WI., but now that I think about it, my warm water PREFERENCE would be whatever conditions I face on the Ottawa River, Lac Seuol, Lake Vermillion or LOW. Yep, that's what I would prefer my water condtions to be when it gets over 80 down here.[:)]
