one question that comes to mind to me is... with saturation of water are the mercury levels soaked up any way?? another one is why can't they bring in soil and rock from the outside and not stir up the bottom to much?? i was home to my parents house this last weekend and spent a lot of time walking around and looking the current structure that me and my dad and family have fished for as long as i can remember its not enough. although boats and shacks are not stacked on each other when being fished i think that some more sturcture could really bring the lake to life and it could be a trophy fishery. this last opener we had the time of our life we caught tons of fish. not to mention a couple that could have made the wall. its sad to see that the lake was just starting to get good and it all ends. they claim that the fishing will not be bothered that much from this draining process??? seems hard to believe. are they going to restock the lake a little?? as a young kid i call it the dead sea. i was little and didn't understand that it takes time to catch fish you just can't wet a line and pull them up one after the other. to be a lake that draws people to the area to fish it you need more consistancy in the catching. Ever taken a fishing trip with two little ones? its hard to keep there intrest when you are catching one fish every hour between the three of you. it will bring tourism to the area even. NOT another campground. i have never even seen the ones on there ever full. so the short and skinny of what i am saying is that this project should continue!!! look at all the time and materials that have been gathered already for it. i mean there has been materials sitting at the point for the last year.

I don't understand any of what you've written. Where it is that you are speaking about, or the particular project of which you are speaking. Do tell, enlighten the masses as to what it is you are alluding to.

My guess, he's talking about the DNR stopping artificial reef construction on the Dairyland Flowage in Wi. due to the fears of disturbing Mercury in the exsisting soil. Seems a shame with all the money raised for the project. Why did they wait so long before getting approval?

first let me state that in know way am i a expert on whats going on at dairyland flowage, but i do stay informed as to whats going on there. 1st off the mercury levels that the wdnr was so worried about were tested and it was found that where the projected work was to be done contained none or very little mercury levels, the proper permits were obtained before the flowage was drained and when first purposed the wdnr was asked to help, they said no not in budget. I dont want to sound like a wdnr basher but they did drop they ball here so to speak and work will start on dairyland hopefully this coming monday, with more cribs, rockpiles and full size trees being imbeded into the bottom, the whole goal of this project was to add cover and structure for the forage in dairyland, not to make it a trophy lake and most of the locals here in ladysmith feel that the wdnr held up this project without good reason and are afraid to see it succeed ,while this is not everyones opinion it is voiced by a majority of locals who are in support of WRA'S plan.

Steve, from what i hear is that the locals feel this because it will be the first time anything like whats being done on dairyland has been tried and the wdnr didnt want any part of it until it came time to start, then the whole mercury issue started, now from what i understand mercury is no longer a issue, the locals are just trying to figure out where all this mercury went to, testing was done by the wra and dairyland power and the results came back earlier this week showing little or no mercury,( which they claimed from the begining) did the wdnr do any tests for mercury and if so, were they in the project area's,where are there results, this whole mercury issue has set back the project at least a month. i guess the locals involved with the project feel since the wdnr didnt want to help, have been providing nothing but hurdles and bureocratic bs ( quoted from a local) and are not involved know. if this project succeeds maybe other groups will want to try something like this elsewhere without the dnr's help, kinda diminish the dnr's our way is right way attitude, like i said steve this is what i am hearing from the locals involved it is not everyones opinion and i am not trying to bash the wdnr, i am just the messenger trying to let the board know whats going on.
