Heard the fish was not weighed on a certified scale for some reason or another. Any more info would be appreciated.

The funny thing is that the fish was taken out of JAMES LAKE, not Webster where everyone is clammering to get on to. Tippecanoe connects to JAMES (where the last Record came out of before this one) and is a deep clear lake with a huge amount of forage and tons of structure. James has a bit more tint to it and great weed flats with steep drop-offs. No, the fish population on these waters is not as dense as it is on Webster, but for that TROPHY fish, obviously James/Tippy are the better bet.
More importantly, I spoke with Ben Clendening, who has spoken with the decision makers in the Indiana DNR....Indiana has made HUGE strides with their muskie stocking program; look at the fish above, and look at the popularity of Webster....but the Indiana DNR is suffering under the constraints of a state-wide recession, and the Muskie program is in danger of being ceased. If not for the popularity of Webster, and the $$$ that the sale of out of state licenses, the stocking programs for Muskies state wide may have been ended.
For once, I want all of you to believe me: this is NOT a diversionary tactic to steer interest away from Webster!!! But I do believe more interest, and more muskie nuts hitting lakes OTHER THAN WEBSTER, will only show the Indiana DNR that the muskie program is something that should be continued. Pound Webster as you've been doing, but think of this: we where on Tippy/James Sunday, only 2 other muskie boats for over 900 acres of water....there where 40+ boats on Webster the day before, if you're the DNR, and you're looking to save money, where do you cut programs? On the lake that everyone flocks to....or the lake where the record comes from, but no one seems to have any interest in. Webster is 530+ acres of really fishable waters, Tippy/James over 900, add in the Barbee Chain (which has been recieving stocking for 5+ years) and you've got a good amount of great waters to fish. And it presents a really great place for 'skies before the seasons in WI, MN, and MI open. BUT if Webster is the ONLY place that has people coming down to fish, the whole area will suffer. Just a few things to think about. I'm going to be pounding both Tippy/James and Webster this season....

Great picture! Wondering how it was caught (casting, trolling) lure, that sort of stuff. Also wondering WHO caught it?

The fish was caught by a gentleman named Darren ____ (can't recall his last name)...he took to the water after work and was trolling a bulldawg behind a dipsy diver. The guy catches a lot of nice fish, and is a really nice person, talked to him at least once. Hope this helps.
