I'm heading to Leech this weekend. Was just wondering if anyone has been out recently and if you had any luck? Thanks

we were there the first weekend in august and had 2 follows in walker bay. we fished walker, agency and portage, but that is all we saw. but it is new to me and i may not have been in the prime spots. although last year we saw more fish there and I caught a 43" in walker bay. good luck and let me know how you did! They had a small local tourney last weekend out of Leech Lake Campground (west end of the lake). 34 boats registered, most boats had two people some had three. About 80 total fisherman. Tournament hours the first day were from 6am to 8pm. Most fisherman fished 10+ hours. That's a combined total of more than 800 hours of fishing on the first day........not a single fish caught.

I would suggest fishing early...before sunrise and until about 10 a.m. and also late. If it is cloudy and windy you should do ok out on the big lake on any of the rock reefs. If the weather is bright and calmer then chances are you will have a long day.

We were out on Aug. 7 and the fish bit well on Pelican Reef early in the morning but once the wind switched and came up to gale force we couldn't fish anymore.
We had five fish up in less than an hour and 3 of those fish bit. Only got 1, a 42 incher but the action was fast and furious.

It really has been one of those years up here but it has to change........at least that thought is keeping me going. But to be honest I have not fished them 100% of the time. Bass have been keeping me busy.

I wish I could help you. I am up here now and it still has been tough this week. There is going to be a big change in temp this week. 85 today and I heard maybe 39 for a low tomorrow night.

Good luck.

I was up the day of the campground tourney but did not participate in the tourney. Didn't see a fish!
