| It's this weekend right? The 18th & 19th. Who's fishing it?
Anybody been up there recently. Water levels are way down any reports?
I think the WMT is calling it the R.A.A.M. Open Championship at Manitowish Waters or something like that. I have NO idea what the RAAM stands for. Should be interesting given the water levels and the expected cold front due early this week. Might be a really tough bite.
GOOD LUCK!!!!

Location: Waterford & Boulder Junction | As I posted on the WMT site, it will be tough to get the larger boats through the channel to Clear Lake. Last week my partner and I had to wade my boat through from the Fawn Lake stump marker to the buoy on Clear. Also, the stumps right down the middle of the marked channel between Fawn and Stone will cause havoc with someone this weekend. Because of the low water levels and high water temps early in the season, weeds are up in places they haven't been in the past.
This will be an intersting weekend! |

| I'll be up there too. Everything seems to be booked up. Any suggestions on places that might have some vacancies. Pea Patch and all the others within 10-15 minutes are all booked. Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks,

Location: NEW LENOX IL | Rick, me and my partner were suppose to fish this tourney but had to back out ,due to some problems at home. I had a cabin booked at VOSS's Birchwood lodge on Spider right around the corner from Greers.Might give them a call .
Good luck to all those fishing this week end . Wish we could be there!

Yes, the chain is very low and extreme caution should be excercised motoring through the channels. The chain right now is near mid-late Oct. drawdown level (2' or so low). There are a lot of stumps that could be hit right now in certain areas. |

| Does anyone know if the channel from Alder to Wildrice is accessable? I heard you can't even get a 14 foot row boat through. Just curious if it's just an exageration or not!
How is Tom going to deal with this situation if only a few smaller boats are able to access all of the lakes, and others only a couple lakes. Should be interesting.

| This would be my take on the access. If you have a boat that can make it through, good news for you. If your boat is too big to get there, then I guess you are SOL. The angler needs to adjust to the conditions he is confronted with. If that means fishing from a smaller boat, then go for it. I can't see restricting the boundaries because not all boat can get to certain areas.
Kinda like not letting anyone else throw a Top Raider, because not all anglers have them.
I know this sounds a bit harsh, and I don't have a stake in this tourney. Just my opinion, and the question was asked. |

Location: NEW LENOX IL | Shep,IMO your answer is right on the money.Adapt,Adapt.
Remember the bass pro a few years back that found a hot area but couldn't access it due to fallen trees. He went to WallMart and bought a chaisaw and won the tourney !
The winner of this one might be fishin out of a canoe ! LOL
Good luck to all

Location: Oconto Falls, WI | Heck, there is still a lot of water accessible! The Clear Lake guys may be in trouble, but other than that everywhere else should be fine. Then again I don't know anything about Alder and Wildrice. Those going out from Greer's can still fish Spider, Manitowish, Little Star, Island, Stone, Fawn, and Rest (be carefull entering/returning from Rest!) without too much trouble if they are carefull in certain areas. Those that launch from Rest usually stay there, but you can still get to the others through some carefull navigation if you so please.
I have a 17' Deep V (Smokercraft), and don't have an issue getting around with the exception of Clear. |

| Well....... Either it has to rain a ton in the next couple days up here or I guess my partner and I will be fishing out of a flat bottom jet boat. Anybody know who sells them? Just kidding. But seriously we really need rain up here. Not only for the lake levels but everything else. It is EXTREMELY dry!!!!!
Good luck to everyone else fishing this weekend. Make sure you navigate CAUTIOUSLY. All the channels are going to be hazardous. These conditions should make for an interesting tournament.
See you all Friday.

| Shep is absolutely correct...every year at every tournament, conditions change and the tournament angler must adjust his/her fishing strategies accordingly. True, this year's conditions for the Manitowish Chain are extreme, but this is what every angler in the feild will have to contend with.
None of the lakes will be deemed off limits due to the water level. If your boat can get in to Clear or Wild Rice, than you can fish it.
Thanks and all of you have a great weekend,
Tom |
