| do you need a 50 inch livewell for tournaments or can you just keep the fish in the net in the water? thanks | |

| depends on the type of tournament you're fishing.
if you're fishing an immediate release/digital photo format or a judge boat tourney, a net will be fine. coated bags that won't split the fins are especially nice.
if it's a transport tourney, you'll need a livewell that's capable of safely transporting the fish to the judge station: long enough and wide enough to hold the fish and not bang it around. pumps and intakes capable of keeping fresh water flowing even while the boat's on plane are a real bonus.
