Last night, I had the chance to relax in front of the TV. and flipped on shark week on the Discovery channel and watched Great Whites completely sky out of the water to hit the seal decoy. And you know what? I started thinking about some of the strikes I've had over the years with topwaters where a musky went completely airboure. In '05, I had a 43 incher hit a topraider where she came completely out of the water attacking like a great white. She had to attack from underneath because the strike was as if a torpedo was launched! Any others experience "Air Jaws" like that???? KDAWG

That seal was an awesome topwater bait. Check out my Tolling Topwaters thread. I was impressed on how many times the sharks charged the seal and then turned off at the last second.

Sounds like Steve Worrall is going to try and get some muksy video along the same lines, and Shep just posted he has seen musky video where they charge and then back off.

It was a very cool Great White show, to say the least.

saw a muskie come out and eat a supertopraider ... went full out of the water, curled it's tail and came in like an inner-tube with it's yap and it's a$$ tied to the bait ... not a lot of fight, but what an aerial show it gave us!

Shark Week has been a real treat to watch and the Air Jaws, etc shows are spectacular!

If you own Dick P's DVD you'll see a hit JUST like you're describing and what folks are seeing on Shark Week. It's his section on the seiche effect (I think he dubbed that particular section "The Fleet"), there are also a few smaller fish in the "Quick Clips" sections that attack the bait in a similar fashion.

yeah that was a sweet segment last night on Discover - can't help but think of the muskies when you see that stuff. it was cool how they got the fish in other parts of the world to breach on the decoys even though it's not part of their normal feeding pattern.

Had 2 in about 5 minutes a few weeks ago come completely out of the water eating choppers. Somersaults in the air, cant beat it! I was trying to replace a hook from the first when I saw the 2nd slam my partners. Both had about 10 inches of line out.
